Luke Spurgeon

Minister of Youth & Young Adults

Psalm 96:1-3 (NIV)

"Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples."

Psalm 96 calls us to lift up a "new song" to the Lord. Each week, our praise band introduces fresh, exciting songs that might not always be everyone's favorite style of worship. But no matter how or where we worship, God's presence is with us. Jesus assures us in Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” Whether we're worshiping together in the sanctuary, singing along in the car on a road trip, or participating in a service online from our homes, we are united in His name, and His presence is with us.

Our worship, through song, is a beautiful offering to God. It stirs warmth and joy in our hearts as we come together in praise. The praise band and choir are filled with anticipation for all that God has in store for us this year. We invite you to join in this joyful song as we offer our praises to Him.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the gift of music and for how contemporary praise songs bring us closer to You. Whether we gather in person or from afar, we know Your presence is with us because You promised that where two or more are gathered in Your name, You are there. Help us to sing with pure hearts—not just on Sundays in church, but in every moment of our lives. May our praise reflect Your goodness, mercy, and love. We pray that through these songs, we draw nearer to You, feeling Your power and love in every note. Thank You for the "new song" You've placed in our hearts. We offer it to You in worship this week. Amen.
