February Library News

Love is in the air this month. Not just for Valentine's Day, did you know that February is also Library Lover's Month? The entire month is dedicated to celebrating libraries and book lovers. February 1 is "World Read Aloud Day," and February 4 is "Take your Child to the Library Day." We hope you'll stop by sometime this month to check out a book or to participate in some of the events we have scheduled.

Now Showing at the Library:

"Ticket to Paradise"

Wednesday, February 16 at 1 pm


If winter has you dreaming of a tropical vacation, join us at the library for a showing of "Ticket to Paradise." This rom-com, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney is set in Bali, and is sure to provide a few laughs and some gorgeous tropical scenery!

Children's Programming

Tuesday is Children's Day at the Library!

New Storytime Schedule Starts in February!


Due to overwhelming popularity, we've added a second Toddler Tales session. Toddlers aged 18 months - 3 1/2 years can join Ms. Danya at either 10:15 am OR 11 am for stories, rhymes fingerplays and bubbles!


Take and Make crafts will be available at the end of each session. No need to register. Please choose one session to attend.


Baby Storytime: Ages 6-24 month (with parent/caregiver)

  • 9:30-9:50 am, Tuesday, February 7, 14, 21, 28


Toddler Tales: Ages 18 months - 3-1/2 years (with parent/caregiver)

  • 10:15 - 10:35 am, Tuesday, February 7, 14, 21, 28

Family Story/Craftime: Ages 4 and up (with parent/caregiver)

  • February 14 - Valentine Hearts: Share a craft with someone special!
  • February 21 - Snowy Day: Decorate a snow scene!
  • February 28 - Mittens: Get creative and make your own unique mitten!

Read to a Dog!

from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm


Grab a good book and come read to a therapy dog at the library! Call the library at 732-747-9649 to register, and you will receive a time slot. Please arrive ten minutes early to pick out a book.

A Virtual Variety Show Extravaganza!

Miss Jane and Rob present circus thrills, slapstick comedy, and lots of silly tricks! Premieres Saturday, February 18 at 10:00 am on the Monmouth County Library's Kids page at www.monmouthcountylib.org. Can't make it? Watch on-demand through February 25.

Tween Program

DIY Valentine

February 8, 9, 10 After school

Grades 5 and up 

If you "love" to craft, you'll want to stop by our Valentine's Day Crafternoons. We will have tons of hearts, doilies, paper, stickers, pompoms, etc. for you to make cards and decorations for Valentine's Day! We'll have a few samples on display for inspiration, or you can come up with your own creative designs. Stop by after school on Wednesday, February 8, Thursday, February 9 or February 10. No registration required. Grades 5 and up.

Take 'N Make Crafts!


We've created "Take 'N Make Craft" kits for our littlest patrons to enjoy! They will be available in the Children's section of the library! Available while supplies last!

Looking for a good book to read? Here are our latest books (in no particular order) that are sure to be favorites of our staff and patrons this month!


Non-Fiction/History Book Club

Monday, March 6 at 6:30 PM

The Non-Fiction/History Book Club will be discussing "The Years of Lyndon Johnson: The Passage of Power" by Robert A. Caro. The group will meet on Monday, March 6 at 6:30 pm to discuss the first half of the book. You may contact the library at 732-747-9649 to borrow a copy of the book!
