Generous Donation Announcement | |
A $25,000 donation has been awarded to Leigh HSC by a member of our neighborhood community. Although this generous donor does not, or will not have any children at Leigh High School, he knows students who have attended here and is "happy to be part of supporting the journey of the students and families at Leigh."
HSC is extremely grateful for this generous donation. We will be working with Principal Wall, students, and the community for ideas of where to best put this money to use.

Highlights from CUHSD Board Trustee Aine O'Donovan
- Thank you parents for supporting the cell phone policy.
- To ensure that all students across the school district are receiving rigorous instruction, Science teachers have now begun the same process as the Math and English teachers and are establishing common course expectations. They are working together to create an agreed-upon common list of priority standards and common assessments.
- The Board and district staff are currently developing a Strategic Plan.
-
Aine explained the district funding process under LCFF (Local Control Funding Formula), noting that our district is a ‘Community Funded’ District. This means most funding comes from local property taxes, with only approximately 12% coming from state and federal funds. To learn more about how schools are funded, view this Ed 100 article.
- Our district’s per-student revenue is $19,780, which is significantly lower than in some other Santa Clara County districts. For example, Santa Clara Unified has a per-student revenue of $29,213, and Palo Alto’s is $32,930. This disparity means our district operates with a smaller budget than some neighboring districts.
- Due to insufficient funding for larger projects like new classrooms or a multi-purpose room, Measure P has been placed on the ballot to modernize our high schools.

Highlights from CUHSD Education Foundation President, Diana Joseph
- Dianna Joseph, President of the Campbell Union High School Educational Foundation, shared that the organization raises money for district-wide projects to support the CUHSD Community.
- There is a student advisory board with engaged students pursuing various projects.
- The organization is entirely volunteer-based and offers student empathy and teacher inspiration grants.
-
The Educational Fund is actively seeking volunteers and donations to support its initiatives. Interested? Please reach out at diana@cuhsd.org
