FROM YOUR TOURISM DIRECTOR

Dear Friends and Members,

February is here, bringing cool breezes, sunny days, and warm moments with friends and loved ones. It’s a month to celebrate connection, creativity, and the unique beauty of the Sebastian River Area. Whether you’re enjoying a peaceful stroll along Indian River Drive, dining al fresco under the stars, or exploring the relaxed and charming culture of our community, this is the perfect time to soak in the season’s beauty.

This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight our partnership with the Cultural Council of Indian River County as we promote the Chamber’s Mural Trail Program. Together, we’re celebrating art’s transformative power and its ability to tell the story of our area in vibrant, meaningful ways. Discover how this initiative brings fresh color and creativity to our community while highlighting the unique character of the Sebastian River Area.

The Mural Trail Program is run by a Chamber committee, and we are actively looking for more members. If you’re an artist or a business interested in joining the trail, follow the link below to sign up. You can also take a virtual tour of the trail by clicking the "Story Map" link, where you’ll find details about the nine murals already featured. Lastly, we’re excited to announce the launch of mural videos in February on our social media pages, YouTube, and our website. Check it out at https://www.sebastianchamber.com/mural-program/.

February’s warm welcome gives us the opportunity to embrace each other, celebrate the love in the air and in our hearts, and continue building connections that make our community so special. Thank you for your ongoing support as we showcase the best of what makes the Sebastian River Area an unforgettable destination.

Special PS.

TOURISM PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

The Cultural Council of

Indian River County

Celebrating 30 Years of Elevating Arts and Culture

The Cultural Council of Indian River County is a cornerstone of our vibrant arts community, championing cultural opportunities and fostering creativity for residents and visitors alike. Founded with the mission to support education in cultural arts, collaborate with member organizations, and advocate for the arts, the Council is marking its 30th year with a legacy of achievements and exciting new initiatives.

From its Art in Public Places program to the widely distributed Cultural Arts Guide, the Council creates platforms for local artists to shine. Notable recent achievements include displaying art at Vero Beach City Council Chambers and business venues and hosting Cultural Connections events that celebrate multidisciplinary art forms. The Council also serves as a financial intermediary for impactful projects, such as the WWII Tribute Memorial and the development of the Gifford Museum and Cultural Center.

The Council actively participate with many local arts events. Much is done with local events like the Sebastian Fine Arts and Music Festival, Under the Oaks Fine Arts and Crafts Festival, Riverside Theatre, the Theatre Guild, Vero Beach Art Museum, Laura Riding Jackson Foundation, Gifford Youth Orchestra, Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, Environmental Learning Center, McKee Gardens, the galleries on 14th Avenue, Ballet Vero Beach, Film Festival, Opera Society, Jazz Society and many more wonderful art organizations and initiatives.

“The arts are a significant economic fuel for our local economy, driving 44% of it,” shares Yvonne, a representative of the Council. “They make Indian River County a beautiful place to live, visit, and raise a family.”

Upcoming Events: Art and Innovation

The Council’s upcoming fundraiser, Art of Distilling, is a must-attend event for art and spirit enthusiasts. On February 26, 2025, at the Vero Beach Heritage Center, guests can witness the unveiling of a specially crafted vodka label designed by a local artist. The event will feature vodka cocktails and a vote for the best elixir—a true fusion of creativity and craftsmanship.

Get Involved

The Cultural Council of Indian River County thrives through community support, promoting arts and culture in the region. Membership is open to everyone, providing vital support for programs like Art in Public Places while connecting members to a vibrant arts network. Advocacy through sharing events or promoting the Cultural Arts Guide strengthens awareness. Donations, sponsorships, and Florida Arts License Plate purchases fund public art spaces and hands-on arts experiences.
