Hello First Branch,

.........

Happy fall! There are a few events on the horizon. As we enter mid October we want to remind all our families, teachers, and staff our School Counselors are a wealth of knowledge for school and home needs. We want our families to know we are here to help and support.

Given the landscape of our world it can be hard to discuss and make sense of current events. Common Sense Media is a very helpful resource for communities (students, teachers, staff, community members and families). This is resource First Branch has recommended before for other topics related to media and needs. Here is a quick list to an helpful page: How to Talk to Kids About Difficult Subjects.

Parent(Guardian)/Teacher Conferences are live! Classroom teachers and teams are sharing their schedules. Most of our teachers are using Sign-up Genesis. Once you click the link, you will see all the dates and times open. Should you have an issue, please reach out to your teacher first. The office is also on standby to help. We want to ensure all families have access to conferences. We understand some families may need help with scheduling and our front offices can help you with this.

First Branch Math Night: Academic nights are back, and we are excited to host our first Math Night in a long time. Come join us on Oct 25th for dinner and math activities at TCS. This is an interactive night for caregivers and students. We need volunteers to assist with stations. We are looking for caregiver-student tag teams to support tables. All the activities are connected to our mathematics programs and were chosen by classrooms. Please see click here to sign up.

Fall Dance 5-8th: Our first dance (10/20) of the year is around the corner for students who live in Chelsea and Tunbridge and are in grades 5-8th grade. Students interested in participating must return the permission slip/agreement form and sign up for a job to support the dance. Forms were given out on Friday to all students.

We also need chaperones (background checked) and adult volunteers (overall helpers)! We promise your student does not have to see you...so if they tell you no and you want to help we can make that work. Please reach out to Dan Rivers ([email protected]). It's a great night of fun. Costumes are welcomed!

Pumpkins: Please know we are on the hunt to find smaller pumpkins for a school wide pumpkin painting program. Please reach out if you know of places we can purchase locally or potential gather a few donations. We are also looking for larger pumpkins for CPS, so far we have 5-6.

First Branch Reminders:

All snacks coming from home should be items that will set students up for success. We ask no gum, candy, or other high-sugar items come in (food or drink). The school offers a fresh fruit or vegetable daily. We understand growing kids need different things. We are looking to empower our students through healthy choices. If your family needs support for snack options, please reach out to our school nurses. There are local programs ( Family Food Backpack) that can support families quietly. Items not setting students up for success will be asked to be returned to backpacks. If there is a struggle or constant concern, the item will be collected and a parent/guardian can pick it up at the end of the day. Please remember breakfast and lunch are free this year, and there are items included in these meals that can support snacks throughout the day for students in need of more fuel.

Dismissal Info: If your student has a change in dismissal we need to know by 1pm daily. We cannot honor last minute requests. All changes are noted for the bus company and for teachers.
