Ray-Pec Community,
At Ray-Pec, we are committed to building a culture where all students, staff, and families feel a sense of belonging. This commitment is embedded in our strategic plan, which emphasizes the importance of fostering an environment that honors the dignity of every student. When students feel safe, respected, and connected, they are empowered to reach their full potential. In short, students are better equipped to flourish.
Earlier this week, we observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day, honoring a leader whose enduring vision inspires us to create better communities. My good friend Jamie Grayson is the executive director and founder of People of All Communities Succeed (POAC). Earlier this week, he summed it up best with his thoughts on MLK day: "As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day, let’s honor his legacy by committing to serve others with open hearts. Take the time to truly learn and understand the other 90% of someone’s story, embracing and valuing the differences that make us extraordinary. Together, we can build a world where every voice is seen, heard, valued and celebrated.”
As we enter February and celebrate Black History Month, I am eager to continue visiting our classrooms and witnessing the lessons highlighting the diverse experiences and contributions that have shaped our nation's history. Our shared goal is to prepare all students for a future where they can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and feel confident in who they are.
Having all students feel safe, respected, and connected is a goal we continue to strive to advance.
Thank you for entrusting your children to the Ray-Pec School District.
Mike
