Shannon in 2023

"2023 is shaping to be a great year for construction. With innovations and high demand for service, the only way to go is up. Construction companies meet client wants and needs and continue to surpass expectations. New technologies enable companies to complete projects faster and cheaper than ever before. With a global pandemic in the rearview mirror, the US construction industry is gearing for massive growth in 2023" DeVooghthouseligfters.com

Shannon Construction could not agree more with DeVooght and we are ready. After enjoying an exciting 2022 which included growing our capabilities in the DC Metro area with our new Joint Venture partner, ADC Management Solutions and the inception of a new team and office location in Gaithersburg, MD, Shannon’s Executive Vice President, Rich Amberson, envisions a financially and productive 2023. “One of our goals for the New Year is really growing our client base in the DC area. We have the team expertise, manpower, and appetite to get a strong foothold and then the sky is the limit”.

What else is in store for Shannon in 2023? Ken Schultz, President and owner, predicts as remote and in-person work normalizes that owners will begin creating spaces that allow for smaller square footage but more usable space. The industry in the Pittsburgh region may see less out of ground work but a significant increase in renovations specifically in Class B and C buildings. “This year will provide a good gauge as to what will happen to office space over the next five years as company leases expire”.

Both Ken and Rich anticipate a strong year for Shannon Construction. “We’re in a position to expand our services and our market areas. We’ve grown over the last year and don’t see a slowdown. Our estimating team has been exceeding our goals and identifying new opportunities we may not have previously considered and our project and field teams are ready to build our client’s visions."

Shannon Construction partnered with architects ae7 to completely renovate the 10,000 plus square foot space. Previously a trade school, the new space took advantage of open concept and expansive windows for natural lighting. A second set of stairs was added to connect the lower level to mezzanine space by cutting a new opening. A wave patterned acoustical wall was installed to act as a functional design element. All overhead electrical was pulled through conduit to maintain a clean overhead appearance to the open ceiling. Numerous glass walled offices and conference rooms, carpet, paint, modern fixtures, restrooms, Mother’s Room, and updated MEPs completed the transformation.
