Dear Residents –
Yesterday, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and you know what that means, six more weeks of winter are on the way. Boy did Phil get it right this time, as an arctic cold front is spreading through the region today and into Saturday with dangerously cold temperatures.
With the evening low tonight ranging from 4 to 10 degrees and tomorrow morning’s low expected to be between minus 3 and 5 degrees, please stay inside if you can. Although it will be a brief arctic blast, hypothermia is possible if proper precautions are not taken. Frostbite can occur in as little as 15 to 30 minutes on exposed skin. So, if you go outside please be sure to dress appropriately. Wear several layers of loose, light, and comfortable clothing, protect your head with a hat and wear insulated mittens or gloves. Fortunately, the cold spell will be short-lived with temperatures rebounding to the mid-40s by Sunday afternoon.
For those of you who are looking for a job, to jump start a new career, or even to advance within your current employment, you may want to check out Rockland Works. Rockland Works is Rockland’s one-stop employment and training resource, supporting the employment and training needs of job seekers and the staffing needs of local employers. It is located at the BOCES Educational Resource Center in Nyack. And better yet, all services are provided free of charge. So visit their website and see what they may have to offer you.
I want to thank all of you who took the time to respond to the farmers market survey that the town put out last week. With almost 1000 of you responding, we are on our way to planning the best farmers market in Rockland County! Stay tuned for more information on this in the coming weeks.
Try to stay warm and have a great weekend.
Regards,
