ZOPPE ITALIAN FAMILY CIRCUS RECAP
|
|
The Central Park Performing Arts Center presented 17 Zoppe Italian Family Circus performances in Largo Central Park from March 9-19. Over 3,700 individuals attended the performances in a Big Top tent on the corner of Central Park Drive and East Bay Drive. The community received the circus well and attracted a diverse family audience of all ages and nationalities. CPPAC staff working the box office surveyed customers and observed that approximately 90% of the people attending had never been to Largo Central Park or a performance at CPPAC. Approximately 15% of families attending the circus originated from another country with English being their second language. This was a successful presentation of a new program and the ticket sales met our goals from the attendance numbers and reaching a new audience.

KEEPING KIDS SAFE NEAR WATER
|
|
Drowning consistently remains the leading cause of death for children 1-4. Each year, near-drowning incidents also result in life-long disabilities. Drowning is preventable, and here are a few tips to watch kids safe around water.
-
Watch kids when they are in or around water. Keep young children and weak swimmers within arm’s reach of an adult. Make sure more experienced swimmers are with a partner every time.
-
Choose a Water Watcher. When there are several adults present, choose one to be responsible for watching children in or near the water for a timeframe, such as 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, select another adult to be the Water Watcher.
-
Avoid distractions when your child is in or around water. Drowning is often silent and can occur in less than five minutes, so giving your child all your attention is important. Put away phones, books, and magazines.
