Dear Jazz,
During the month of March, we commemorate Women’s History Month as we acknowledge the women, past and present, who have impacted our lives, our community, and our world for the better. Today, women are doctors, teachers, politicians, engineers, and more. But that was only made possible by the activists that marched, advocated, and fought for the liberty of all women to live their lives as equals.
In the Queen City, we have thousands of women who are mothers that work tirelessly to provide for their children and turn them into contributing members of our society, teachers that have taken on the difficult task of educating our students, business owners that keep our local economy thriving, city workers that keep our city operations functioning, and many more – each with their own special story of hardship, perseverance, and determination.
Let’s take this month as an opportunity to pay attention to the women in our neighborhood, learn their stories, and express our gratitude for their contributions to our city. When we take the time to listen to each other’s stories, we become aware of all the special gems we hold right here. Please continue to read this newsletter for updates on our city, information on events where we can take the time to learn from each other, city meetings you can attend to get involved in the process, and resources you or a friend may need. This month, I hope you can share or accept the City of Plainfield's special gratitude for the women in our community.
