Fall 2024 Newsletter

Record Number of Grant Applications!

Wow. Just wow! The Bedford Area Educational Foundation received 30 grant applications for our September 2024 round. You may recall that I reported a record number of applications in last year's Fall Newsletter. Well, the wonderful teachers, counselors and administrators did it again! Thanks to our wonderful sponsors and donors, the Board of Directors of the BAEF were able to fund 24 of these applications plus an additional request from the administration for a total of $19,663.00.

In addition, we continue to support the comprehensive mental health intervention for ALL Bedford County Public Schools' students. With our partners, the Stroobants Foundation, the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation and the Bedford Community Health Foundation, we have ear-marked approximately $25,000 in funding for unique interventions for grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Please click here for a press release about this wonderful collaboration.

In other news, we have said a fond farewell to Board Members, John Mack and Sara Braaten. Both John and Sara served the Foundation for many years and their respective contributions have been invaluable. We welcome Kelly Graham-Brown as our newest Board member and look forward to her efforts to support our mission! If you are interested in serving on our Board, please reach out to me at info@bedfordeducation.com.

Most Gratefully,

Jay
