ASSUMPTION SHELTER - THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS

Thank you to all the volunteers whose support helped make the shelter a success. As always, the men appreciated the hospitality shown to them. They enjoyed the home cooked meals and other provided treats. Being greeted by warm, friendly faces each night made them feel at ease and comfortable staying with us. The shelter is an important ministry and hopefully your participation was a rewarding experience. “A great big THANK YOU also goes to our shelter coordinator Kathy Reynolds, who has modeled this ministry as a true work of heart for many years now."

Questions? Please contact Virginia Navarro, affc@oratorychurch.org.

How Can You Support Our Community?

The best way to support our wonderful two-parish community is to participate in what goes on in both parishes and to attend Mass in person. One great way is to join or facilitate one of the Brooklyn Oratory Small Groups. Another way is to help with Hospitality and Coffee Hour. We would love to grow the small group ministry in our parishes, but we need a few more of you who are willing to host and facilitate. Groups can meet online or in person. Information and training will be provided. If you are interested in joining or learning what it takes to facilitate a group, please contact Virginia Navarro at affc@oratorychurch.org.

Last Call for Palm

We will burn last year's palm to make ashes for this Ash Wednesday. If you have palm, bring them to Mass with you. A basket will be provided in the back of both churches. We will burn the palm on February 5 at Assumption, before the 9:30am Mass. Families and children are welcome to come watch this powerful symbol to which the season of Lent calls each of us.

Volunteers Needed for ABVM Coffee Hours

ABVM will be hosting a coffee hour once a month after the 9:30 am Mass through June. Volunteers are needed to bring goodies (baked goods, fruit, etc.) and to help with set-up and clean-up. The currently scheduled dates for coffee hours are February 12, March 12, April 16 and June 4. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Coleen McGrath, coleen.mcgrath@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
