Why Pacific Masters has a Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Phyllis Quinn, Pacific Masters Chair

Not only are we the largest LMSC in U.S. Masters Swimming, but we may also be the most diverse. We are also one of only six LMSCs that has a Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Learn about why we think Diversity & Inclusion is so important that we created this subcommittee here.
Albany Aquatics Masters Splash and Dash
The Cold Never Bothered Us Anyway

150 participants braved the cold to compete in Albany Aquatic Masters' annual "Splash and Dash." But what is a swim meet without volunteers? 60 volunteers, along with Announcer Dave Weirdsma, gave up their Saturday to stand in the cold and shiver along with the swimmers.

Thank you to everyone for another successful meet. Results can be found here.
The City Mile
Getting Those Miles In!

While it was raining outside the City College Wellness Center, 84 Masters swimmers competed in the Ninth edition of The City Mile. Swimmers from New England Masters and Michigan Masters also came to race the 1650.

While no national records were broken, two Pacific Masters 1650 records were broken by Sally Guthrie (F70-74) and Joel Wilson (M 70-74). Meet records were broken by Stephanie Blankly, Cathy Neville, Sally Guthrie, Kevin Jeffery and Joel Wilson. The swimmer with the closest actual time to seed time was Kostas Sarrigeorgidis. His seed time was 19:30.00 and had a final time of 19:30.44.
More Records for Laura Val and Rich Burns
It's a Flurry of Records!

At the Kroc Masters Short Course Meters February Flurry meet in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, Laura added 3 World Aquatic Records to her already prestigious resume. As she approaches 450 lifetime records, she shows no sign of slowing down. Her new records in the 70-74 age group came in the 400 free (5:18.22), 400 IM (6:12.45), and 50 fly (34.14).

“I did not expect to be breaking records at this competition,” explains Laura. “I just came to accompany my teammate Rich Burns, who chose this early-in-the-year SCM meet, to try out his new age group, 80-84.” Rich found his new age suited him fine, as he broke 6 World Aquatic records during the 2-day meet. His 50 back (36.01), 100 back (1:20.70), 200 back (2:56.75), 50 fly (34.92), 100 IM (1:23.73) and 200 IM (3:08.90) were all new records.
