September 15 - October 15 was National Hispanic Heritage Month (NHHM). During the month, Americans celebrate the contributions of citizens from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. In honor of this month, we sent emails explaining the history of NHHM and the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA).
Additionally, the LMSA chapter on each campus hosted events where they taught everyone more about Hispanic/Latino culture. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these events and to all who participated in this year's Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration!

Book Sale/ Food Drive
In celebration of National Medical Librarians Month, the Skelton Medical Library in Macon is currently hosting a book sale/food drive. To participate, bring in a canned or nonperishable food item in exchange for a book. One nonperishable item = one book. All donated food items will be given to a local food pantry.
The book sale and food drive will be an ongoing initiative of the library. Therefore, the food drive will continue even if all the books run out. All books are donated materials or from the medical library's collections. For details on how to donate your old medical textbooks, contact the Skelton Medical Library staff.
