WHY:   March is National Reading Month! We love reading! Let's have fun and build confidence in reading!

HOW:

• Try to read every day during the Read-a-thon!
• You may read to yourself or have a story read to you!
• Fill out your BINGO card!
• Return your BINGO card by Monday April 3!

On Tuesday, March 21st we will have a Principal- Parent Connection Night. Similar to the morning principal coffees, but in the evening! This will be a time when we can engage in conversation about our school and community. Our goal is to continue building community and learning from you as parents about the ways we can support home and school partnerships. I will be working closely with our PTA leaders to use this learning and work together to enhance our future connection meetings and community events.

The Clyde Hill Heritage Festival was this past Thursday and it was amazing! We had posters highlighting many different countries and cultures, the choir sang and there was so much amazing food! There were tamales and kimmari and laab and risotto and pakoras and soda bread and adobo and more! Thank you everyone who came and everyone who contributed!

At Clyde Hill Elementary, we are so lucky to have a wonderfully diverse school community with many different cultural backgrounds and traditions. If there are families who celebrate the upcoming holidays and are willing to provide information about their traditions we would love to highlight them here! Please email editor@clydehillpta.org. Information might include what is the holiday; who recognizes/celebrates this holiday and what are some practices during the event such as: community gatherings, prayer, foods, fasting. We're aiming to share more about practices and traditions in our community. Our diversity is amazing!

Our next PTA General Assembly Meeting is on March 31st! We are seeking 2 - 3 PTA Members to serve on our Nominating Committee.

What does a Nominating Committee do? 

• seek out and receive nominations for the PTA Executive Team (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary) for the 2023-2024 school year.
• receive training and guidelines from the Washington State PTA
• contact candidates, conduct a brief interview, and present a slate of officers to be elected at the year's final PTA General Assembly Meeting.

The Chinook Middle School counselors visited Clyde Hill 5th graders on March 14 to help students select classes for their 6th grade year.

The deadline to register is March 31.

Although the school board recently approved the elementary school consolidations, we do not yet have enough information to share with the community. The work in planning for changes next year has not yet been laid out, but we will continue to inform the community and provide updates when possible.  - Principal Garcia

The mission of the Bellevue Schools Foundation is to promote and fund the best possible learning opportunities for ALL students in Bellevue’s public schools. Since its inception, BSF has committed over $25 million to fund critical programs that fall through the financial cracks of local, state, and federal funding structures.  They are hosting their annual Spring for Schools event on April 1, 2023. When you register for the event, please note PTA President, Shera Myers, as your Star Captain.
