Experimental and translational approaches to elucidate toxic effects of environmental chemical exposure on human pregnancy
Dr. Joshua Robinson is an Assistant Professor in the Center for Reproductive Sciences and Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at UCSF. Since Fall of 2016, he has led a research laboratory aimed at studying the effects of environmental chemical exposures on human development. For his presentation, he will highlight his group’s recent work, investigating the impact(s) of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) exposures on human placental development/function using in vitro and in vivo approaches.

Women's status and reproductive and maternal health in South Asia: recent findings and new projects
Dr. Nadia Diamond-Smith is an Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatics and Institute for Global health Sciences at UCSF. She studies the intersection between women’s empowerment and reproductive and maternal health, mostly in South Asia. She will talk about findings from a study about women's status, nutrition, and reproductive health among newly married women in Nepal, including findings from a household level norm intervention. She will then discuss three recently funded R01s on maternal and reproductive health in India.

Special issue on climate and women’s health
The International Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics published a special issue exploring how climate change can adversely impact women’s health, how the OBGYN field can reduce its own impact on climate while also better supporting patients. EaRTH researchers were critical contributors to many of the articles.
