After getting a brief overview of the American Revolution, Cushing 5th Graders decided that they wanted to create a museum to share these stories with our community. To learn more about how to do this, they turned to the Waukesha Historical Museum. Then, students prepared their exhibit on important individuals, tactics, and battles.

The Laser Bash is Back

Laser Bash benefits KM Football and will provide things like new helmets, shoulder pads, field equipment and more!

The cost is $50 per person or $90 per couple in advance, $55 at the door. We will feature music from Big Sexy as well as raffles, silent auction, appetizers, and a cash bar.

Congratulations to Nolan S. on being chosen to the NFF Wisconsin Chapter Scholar-Athlete Team!

That’s back-to-back years where Kettle Moraine Lasers were chosen for the Scholar-Athlete team which consists of only 11 players from the entire state who demonstrate an exemplary love for the game, leadership, and academics!

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS

Laser Ladies of STEM!

KMMS held its first annual Laser Ladies of STEM event last night. 130 girls, with an aptitude for STEM, were invited by their teachers to participate. Over 120 attended! Students were led through five different activities by community members with backgrounds in engineering. Their mission is to encourage, inform and support young ladies interested in a future in STEM-related careers. We will be sharing this is a Capturing KM in coming weeks, so please stay tuned for more information.

ELEMENTARY NEWS

What's a Volcanologist?

Wale Students in Mrs. Commons & Mrs. Gliniecki's classes met with Dr. Dave Schneider - a volcanologist from Alaska! Dave is Evy K's (a student in 4th grade) great-uncle and came to us via Google Meet. We learned about Mount St. Helens and other volcanoes around the world. We also learned how and why scientists study volcanoes, along with volcanic hazards. The students got to see real volcanic rock from volcanoes that Dr. Schneider has collected over his career!

The Niester Bunny!

Magee Elementary had some Easter fun and certainly enjoyed Mr. Nies's choice of costumes! Students and staff celebrated with games and treats prior to the long weekend.

Canoe Building

Explore Students, in partnership with KMHS students and Alverno College, are well into their canoe-building projects. When the canoes are complete, they will be testing them out on the water. We will be sharing this is a Capturing KM in coming weeks, so please stay tuned for more information.

Jr. Laser Football Fall 2023

Registration is now open for Jr. Laser Football for the fall season. Anyone interested in playing flag football for grades K-4 and tackle football for grades 5-8 are encouraged to sign up. Registration deadline is April 7, but students can still join for an additional fee.

Fastpitch Softball

Interested in Fastpitch Softball? Did your daughter play T-Ball and is looking for more? Kettle Moraine Laser Fastpitch club is looking for additional players to complete their U8 team (born after December 31st 2013). If interested, please contact the community Education Office at 262-968-6273 x4641 for more information. Winter/indoor practices just started and the season runs April-August.

Jr. Laser Cheerleading

Interested in cheerleading in the fall? Students entering grades 6-8 in the fall are encouraged to sign up. Practices are twice per week July-October, with Saturday morning performances at local football games.

Girls Basketball Summer Camp

Girls currently in grades 3-8 are invited to participate in basketball camp June 12-15. This camp will focus on offensive/defensive fundamentals with plenty of competitions. KM Varsity Coaching staff and Varsity players will instruct campers in station work and one-on-one instruction. Grade is based on the 2022-23 school year. Each player will receive a free Laser Way Basketball Camp t-shirt. Campers should bring their own ball and a water bottle.

KM Wrestling Club

Join us Mondays/Wednesdays at the KM High School Wrestling Room. Grades from K-3 meet from 5:15-6pm. Grades 4-8 meet from 6-8pm. Sign up today to work with high school coaches and players in this great winter sport.
