VISIT:  The Black Jockeys Lounge, a Black woman-owned business.  The Black Jockeys Lounge pays tribute to the early Black jockeys and their contribution to horse racing (particularly the Derby).  Photos of jockeys line the walls and you can learn their stories as you enjoy great food, great music, and the beautiful atmosphere.  https://www.blackjockeyslounge.com/

WATCH: A Most Beautiful Thing, a documentary about a Black high school rowing team composed of gang members from a public high school on the west side of Chicago. Streaming on Peacock TV, Prime Video, Vudu or Apple TV 


VISIT/LEARN: Middle Housing Tours of Louisville. Middle housing has been identified as an important partial solution to the affordable housing crisis. On these tours, participants will visit some of Louisville’s current middle housing options and identify design, pattern, and safety preferences to inform changes to the Land Development Code. LEARN/WATCH: This Esquire article discusses and includes the 1979 ABC Interview with James Baldwin. Buried by ABC at the time, the segment has resurfaced over four decades later, revealing a unique glimpse into Baldwin’s private life—as well as his resounding criticism about white fragility.

VISIT: The Helen LaFrance exhibit at the Speed Art Museum. LaFrance, who was born in Graves County, Kentucky, was a self-taught artist who didn’t begin painting until she was in her 40’s. Her "memory paintings" draw from her recollections of life growing up in the rural South. Several museums and private collectors, including Oprah Winfrey, own examples of her work.
