Find a partner and join us for our first team style archery competition!
This competition is open to current 4-H members who participate in archery. Adults and youth will form teams of two and compete against each other. If you are not a part of 4-H archery and would like to join please email Hailey Wright, haileywright@unr.edu to join a local club.
This event is free to attend. Youth must be over the age of 9.
Teams will compete from the 10, 15, and 20 yd line in 2 rounds with 5 arrows in each round. There will be 1 round of practice shots at each distance.
Registration is open from January 8th, 2025- March 15th, 2025.

This event is only open to youth enrolled in a 4-H archery project. Youth must be enrolled in 4-H online to compete. Registration is $5.

Junior Master Gardener Classes - Laughlin Library | |

In these workshops, students will have fun working in the community gardens toward a gardening certification.
The Junior Master Gardener program is an international youth gardening program of the University Extension Network. JMG engages children in novel, “hands-on” group and individual learning experiences that provide a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the community and environment, and cultivate the mind.
Open to all ages. Students under 10 years old will require guardian presence. No prior gardening experience needed.
Classes are free but students will be required to purchase the JMG Handbook.

4-H Teen Wellness Retreat | |

Are you interested in joining the Clark County 4-H team by attending the 4-H Teen Wellness Retreat hosted in Alamo, NV?
During this 3-day overnight retreat, teens ages 13 to 18 will dive deeper into the topics of mindfulness, the importance of physical activity, and lifelong healthy habits.
All transportation, meals and lodging are included in the overall price of this experience ($200).
Registration will be open from January 6th, 2025 to March 3rd, 2025.
Only Open to Youth ages 13 to 18.
$200 Camp Fee

4-H Overnight Horse Camp
Saddle Up for Adventure

This four day/three night camp is designed to introduce youth to horseback games, crafts, and team-building exercises with fellow horse enthusiasts. Participants will take part in daily riding sessions and horsemanship activities.
Nevada 4-H Camp Alamo

July 29 - Aug. 1, 2025
Participant cost of $250 includes youth meals, lodging, and transportation to and from the camp to arena. Registration due by May 1, 2025.
Participants must provide for and transport their own horse; including feed, necessary supplies, and saddle. 4-H safety gear required.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) is implementing a ban on all Nevada Poultry (birds and eggs) and Dairy Cattle Exhibitions at fairs and shows until further notice.
Clark County 4-H is currently in the process of planning alternative opportunities for those youth who were expecting to be able to show their chickens at the Clark County Fair.
Please contact Rocki Shaner, shanerr@unr.edu, directly with the names and ages of youth in your club or family that were planning on participating in chicken showmanship to help us with alternative arrangements.

AmeriCorps 4-H Community Educator
The 4-H Environmental Educator AmeriCorps Members will deliver educational activities to the youth through experiential, hands-on learning, Positive Youth Development (PYD) principles and support the program they are assigned to. Members will support summer day camp activities and implement a new environmental literacy curriculum.
This position will be Monday- Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM. Occasional nights and weekends.
The members will be serving majority of their hours at the Extension office and in local community. Start Date: 5/19/2025- End date: 8/11/2025.
This is a minimum time term of service, and a minimum of 300 hours must be completed successfully in order to be eligible for an education award. Availability in Clark, Elko, Eureka, Lyon, Northern Nye, Washoe, and White Pine Counties.

4-H Community Based Instructor - Communications, Expressive Arts, and Civic Engagement
The University of Nevada, Reno Southern Area Extension is recruiting for a Community-Based Instructor 3 for Clark County 4-H. This position is located in Las Vegas Nevada.
The Community-Based Instructor 3 will focus on implementing 4-H programs and curricula on the topics of Communications, the Expressive Arts, as well as Civic Engagement and leadership for youth in various settings, including schools, community centers, and camps, using diverse teaching methods while tracking attendance and volunteer participation.
Responsibilities include updating and adapting curricula to meet audience needs, contributing to new curriculum development through feedback from observations and evaluations, and collaborating with 4-H teams.
The Community-Based Instructor 3 will coordinate program logistics, maintain records, prepare reports, purchase supplies, support volunteers through training and assistance, recruit volunteers, and aid marketing efforts such as creating flyers and updating social media.

4-H Community Based Instructor - STEM
The University of Nevada, Reno Southern Area Extension is recruiting for a Community-Based Instructor 3 for Clark County. This position is located in Las Vegas Nevada.
The Community-Based Instructor 3 will design and deliver research-based curricula using interactive teaching methods, fostering positive youth development, and implementing engaging educational experiences in schools, community centers, libraries, public housing sites, and camp programs.
Key responsibilities include program planning, lesson development, and logistics coordination to ensure effective program delivery. This position is vital in outreach and communication efforts by promoting programs through social media, flyers, and community engagement initiatives, as well as assisting with leadership programs and special events such as STEM fairs and Career Days.
