With more than 1,100 lane miles and an impressive 2.5MM tons of asphalt laid between the nominations, we're proud to say that our state is paving the way for a smoother, safer future.

University of Florida Expanding Design and Construction School


The University of Florida has announced that its long-in-planning addition to its College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) is now underway. The new building will add 50,000 square feet, encompassing lecture space, research hubs, and various other educational areas devoted to 3D printing and virtual reality.

Fort Myers Region Leads State in the Construction Job Growth Rate Over the Year


The Fort Myers region, one of the most impacted areas by Hurricane Ian, had the fastest job growth rate in construction at 8.4 percent over the year. The area also saw a decrease in its unemployment rate, down 0.4 percentage point over the year to 2.8 percent in February 2023.

Study: Recycling Micro Polypropylene in Modified Hot Asphalt Mixture


The motivation of this study was to demonstrate the possibility of recycling two types of wastes with a high risk of pollution, such as plastic based polypropylene and abrasive blasting grit wastes in asphalt roads.

Construction Ahead of Schedule on New Howard Frankland Bridge



Construction on the new Howard Frankland Bridge is moving along. In fact, it appears to be ahead of schedule. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) now says drivers could be using the new bridge by late next year. Previous estimates had been for 2025.

Sectors of the industry are taking respective stands on federal emissions rulemaking. They are pushing for more of a voice in the rulemaking process while driving the fed to work harder at setting policy that both makes sense and benefits the environment.

Hubbard Shares Progress on SR 417 Project

ARTBA Joins Ajax Paving in Suicide Prevention Effort


According to Construction Equipment Guide, the American Road & Transportation Builders Association is backing a campaign by Ajax Paving of Florida President Vince Hafeli that spreads awareness of the suicide epidemic plaguing the construction sector.

There are more than 5,500 construction industry suicides annually. According to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report, that equates to 45.3 per 100,000 workers, or 3.5 times greater than the national average.
