New Open-Access Book on Governance

We are thrilled to share "Humanistic Governance in Democratic Organizations: The Co-operative Difference" edited by our very own Sonja Novkovic, Karen Miner and Cian McMahon. From the publisher:

“This open access edited book brings together a number of theories under the umbrella of humanistic governance to develop a persuasive alternative perspective on governance, particularly for democratic organisations such as co-operatives. It examines how we can move beyond a profit-first approach to governance, into a framework that prioritises human dignity in all aspects of an operation. This book also discusses key issues for different types of cooperatives and how these might be addressed. And, finally, it addresses how cooperatives can better cope with dynamic change processes. [..] This book will be of interest for academics working in the areas of stakeholder governance, social solidarity economy, ethical management and co-operatives.

New case study on Fagor Ederlan Tafalla

Fagor Ederlan Tafalla (FET) is a success story of how a non-co-operative industrial firm can be transformed into a co-operative under the leadership of a long-established co-operative (Fagor Ederlan). Its analysis could both provide tentative guidelines as well as inspiration for particular groups or co-operative movements in other contexts. Since the case study was carried out, FET has completed the transition from a mixed (multistakeholder) co-op structure to a fully-fledged worker co-operative.

New documentary on co-operation features ICCM friends

Canadian documentarian, Kevin Moynihan, teamed up with Tom Webb, The Centre's former Program Manager, co-founder and adjunct professor, as well as other co-operators to create a film that would stimulate co-operative imagination and action in an effort to build an economy for the common good. You may notice some familiar faces from the ICCM community. Check it out!
