Rowland High School Tennis Team CIF Champs Ring Ceremony on January 28, 2025.

For the first time in the Rowland Unified School District’s history, the Rowland High School Tennis team won the CIF championships. The team was presented CIF Rings for their victory at a special ceremony during the half-time Battle of the Tracks Basketball game on January 28.

It was a season like no other. A young team, many players who this was their first year playing tennis, and the team made history! 

“We were very fortunate to have kids who just loved the sport. This team excelled in many areas and showed they have the ability to win against anyone, from a country club to a public school,” said Jake Magnant, Boys & Girls Head Varsity Tennis Coach. “When we clenched that last point of the CIF game, it was incredible and I will remember that moment for the rest of my career. We really appreciate all the support we have been given from our District Leadership, Athletic Directors and community.”

Rowland High School Senior Connor Park has been on the Tennis Team all four years. “My favorite memory was when we went to Yucca Valley, 105 miles from home. We were so hot and tired and then our bus broke down! We were so frustrated and were stranded for 6 hours. But as time went by, we just enjoyed each other’s presence. There was a moment when the sun set and we saw shining, pearly stars in the sky and it was surreal. It became an unforgettable moment. It wasn’t just about the winning, it was about the brotherly bond we shared and our team was a family.”

Rowland Unified athletes are on FIRE and many of our teams are headed to CIF, a huge accomplishment! Help us cheer them on and support them at their upcoming games!
