NOTES
HEAD OF SCHOOL CONSTITUENT SURVEY
Every year the Board of Trustees is responsible for evaluating the Head of School. In order to broaden our understanding of the Head’s performance during the school year, we are asking parents, staff, and students to complete this survey

The questions are related to the Head of School's specific areas of responsibility--general duties, curriculum and program development, interpersonal relations, communication and management style, and lastly, loyalty to and support of the Riverside community. At the end of each section there will be an opportunity to add comments related to that section and additional comments may be provided at the end of the survey. Parents/guardians of younger children, if your child was not sent a link directly and you wish to include their feedback you are encouraged to do so in the space provided

Please take a few minutes to reflect on and answer the questions within, and provide as much information as you wish in the comments. Your responses will go directly to the President of the Board of Trustees and individual responses will be kept confidential.
SELF STUDY FOR ACCREDITATION UPDATE
After almost two years, the work of all of our self study committees is now complete. We are extremely grateful for the teachers, parents, trustees, and friends who served on these committees to reflect on our strengths and challenges on a variety of topics (governance, mission, student supports, professional development, long term viability, and more). If you'd like to read a summary of the major themes of our findings, you can find it here.

The reports are now being shared with a team of peer educators and administrators from other small schools in northern New England. They will read them and reflect on them when they visit Riverside: Monday, May 1 - Wednesday May 3. The purpose of their visit will be to learn about Riverside in practice, and validate our self study work from their objective perspective.
REENROLLMENT CONTRACTS
Contracts for returning students were mailed out today, please look for them in your postal mailbox and make it a priority to sign and return them ASAP. The state was very late in releasing tuition information, and we are now rushed to get them back so we can make the other admissions decisions. Contracts must be returned with deposit by April 21 to secure a spot for the 23-24 school year.
2023-2024 CALENDAR
Here is our DRAFT of next year's calendar. Note that we are returning to a start date before labor day.
NEW TEACHERS
We are excited to announce that Carrie Albritton has accepted the 2nd grade teacher position for next year, and Will Albritton has accepted the middle school English/history position. Thank you to all the faculty, students, and parents who assisted in the search and interview process!

ANNUAL STATE STANDARDIZED TESTING
6-8th graders will begin the Vermont Common Assessment Program computer-based tests in English/Language Arts and Math next week, and 3-5th graders will begin them in mid May. While we recognize these assessments only provide a snapshot of data, we do find them to be one helpful tool in determining how best to celebrate and support students.

For that reason, we ask students to do their best work, with genuine effort, so that we are accurately informed about what they are able to show about their skills and knowledge in these content areas. Parents, you can support them at home be being sure they are on a healthy schedule of eating, resting, and playing, and reminding students that their best work is what's most helpful to us as teachers.

We have designed the schedule and testing environment to be most comfortable and least disruptive to the students' school day. We will provide snacks, movement breaks, and a quiet, focused mood. Next week we will share the middle school testing schedule here in the Memo.
K-2nd gr. SWIMMING
Please remember to pick up K-2nd graders at the back door of the SJA pool at 3:30 this Thursday, and again on April 20, May 4, and 11.
