In chiropractic school, I was taught by the college President, Dr. Thom Gelardi, the importance of knowing what you do and why you do it. He stated that a profession was defined by it's objective. And that particular objective determines what measures are used to accomplish it.
So let's start right from the beginning.
What is the chiropractic objective as practiced in this office?
Our objective is to locate, analyze and assist your body in correcting vertebral subluxations so that it may function as best it can for as long as it can. Period.
What is a vertebral subluxation?
A vertebral subluxation is a condition where one or more spinal bones (vertebrae) becomes misaligned with the one above, the one below, or both, to an extent less than a dislocation that results in interference to the nerve system (the body's master controller) and negatively impacts the body's performance and innate potential. Your nervous system controls everything. Gray's Anatomy calls it the “Master Controller.”
Why do we correct vertebral subluxations?
Simply put, that it’s better to live unsubluxated than subluxated, no matter what your circumstances are otherwise. Period. Stress (physical, mental emotional) can overload your nervous system. Each person has a unique potential in life. With vertebral subluxation, it's impossible to realize that potential! Visiting our office (and those with similar objectives) is the only way to know if vertebral subluxations are present and interfering with the fullest expression of your unique potential. In fact, those who understand the effects of vertebral subluxations choose to have their spines checked regularly and on an ongoing basis independent of symptoms. This is the best recommendation that anyone - non-therapeutic chiropractor or anyone else, for that matter - can give regarding vertebral subluxations. I have no reason ever to tell someone otherwise."
