Help Me Grow

Action Team Meeting

April 13, 2022

8:30 - 9:30am

In April, we are going to try something new! Instead of breaking up the Action Teams in separate zoom rooms, we are going to focus on one area as a larger group. During this meeting, we will get an overview of one Action team, learn about the goals, how they related to the other areas in the framework and have an action item or discussion specific to moving the work forward.

Call To Action!

Cost of Childcare Study

Are you a childcare provider? Do you know a childcare provider?? The Washington Cost of Child Care Study is now underway. A key part of this study is collecting data from childcare providers across Washington to ensure that the study and cost model is informed by the reality on the ground. The information childcare providers submit will be included in a report to the Legislature and will help DCYF set subsidy reimbursement rates. Completion deadline is April 15th!

Skagit YMCA Healthy Kids Day - April 30th

On Healthy Kids Day, children (ages 5-13) and families will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of learning; healthy eating; nutrition and physical activity; mental and emotional well-being; and developing healthy habits. It also serves as a great place to get kids excited about summer programs in the greater Skagit/Whatcom area! This year, our Healthy Kids Day event is taking place from 11:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday, April 30 at the Skagit YMCA (1901 Hoag Road, Mount Vernon). Healthy Kids Day is not possible without the support of our community vendors, and we already have a great lineup of vendors who will be attending this year’s event.

If you have interest in being a community vendor, please send an email to events@skagitymca.org no later than April 18. Each vendor will provide some type of fun event, game, educational activity, healthy snack, etc. for kids and families to enjoy. Additionally, each kid will leave with a goody bag filled with small trinkets from each vendor, and there will be raffles throughout the event with bigger gifts from the participating vendors.
