Library Notes
Here in New England, the April Fools' joke is often the weather: "It's Spring; fooled you!" But the showers - snow and rain - help wake up the plants and soon, soon there will be flowers...

From Ancient worship of Flora, goddess of flowers and fertility to present-day observances of Ramadan, Passover, and Easter, many religions and cultures celebrate holidays marking rebirth, renewal, and redemption this time of year.
On another seasonal note, we encourage you to add a leaf with a poem your own or a favorite by another to the PoetTree set up in the library during April, National Poetry Month.

"Fertile Ground" is the title of the upcoming group show in the Mezzanine Gallery this May and June. Artists are invited to submit an entry by April 12. There is still time to view Pati Braun Grandy's current exhibition of paintings, SeaSpring.
Great thanks to all who responded to our survey. While we are still working on the strategic plan, many programs that incorporate your ideas were already in the planning stage and we are excited to move forward with new ideas. Though the survey is now closed, we welcome your suggestions, and appreciate your expressions of support.
Special Events

To celebrate Poetry Month, we invite poets of all ages to add a “leaf” of verse to the tree set up in the library.

Blank leaves are available to write down your poetic words – silly or serious, anything you wish… The form might be haiku or limerick, free verse or acrostic – you choose.

Stop by to join in the fun! (MORE INFO)

Spring cleaning? NWPL welcomes donations of books in good condition! Some books will be added to the collection. Most will be sold in the library's book sales including the rare book sale. The money raised supports programs, adds new books to the collection, and funds the overall upkeep of the library. In addition, some of the donated books are passed on to Bookstock for their annual Book Sale on the Green.

Your generous book donations allow us to keep the Book Sale in the library foyer fresh and exciting! Stop by and see what is new. (MORE INFO)

With the support of the Friends of NWPL, we are pleased to offer a certified alternative for recycling batteries and small electronics: The Big Green Box!

Perfect for alkaline batteries from your remote control or wireless mouse, rechargeable laptop, and cell phone batteries. We also take portable or handheld electronics such as cell phones, tablets, calculators, T.V. remotes, and key fobs, etc. Bring them to the reference desk, bag them, and drop them in.

Sometimes mobility issues and transportation challenges make it hard to get to the library to select books.

Enter the Bag Mobile! We will fill a special tote bag with your choice of books for a caregiver or friend to pick up. Need help with a selection? That’s what librarians are for! Give us title suggestions, authors you enjoy, or simply some guidance about your reading preferences.
