SJC Receives Resiliency Award for Alpine Groves Park Shoreline Restoration Project

St. Johns County received the Northeast Florida Regional Council’s Resiliency Award for the completion of the Parks and Recreation Department’s $908,681.29 Alpine Shores Grove Park Shoreline Restoration Project.

Program Highlights

Movie in the Park: The Game Plan

February 7 | 6 – 9 p.m.

Come to Treaty Park in your favorite sports gear for a pre-Super Bowl weekend party and a screening of the 2007 family comedy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The movie starts at 7 p.m., but if you come at 6, there will be fun, tailgate-style yard games!

Trail Itinerary Workshop

February 18 | 1 – 4 p.m.

Help the Regional Community Institute of Northeast Florida develop trail itineraries that St. Johns County residents, visitors, and outdoor enthusiasts can use, containing information about amenities, safety considerations, points of historical interest, local wildlife, and more.

Sustainable Futures: Career Camp

March 17 – 21 | 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This Spring Break camp will introduce high school students to a variety of careers in the environmental field, such as wildlife conservation, environmental science, and sustainability. In addition to career insights, your child will earn at least 10 service learning hours by participating in environmental projects that benefit the community.

Homeschool Fishing Clinic

Kids can get into fishing or brush up on their fishing skills in a hands-on clinic for learning how to cast, tie knots, read and understand regulations, select bait, and more.

Help the Matanzas Riverkeeper rescue beautiful Butler Beach from invasive species by hand-removing harmful trees, vines, and flowering plants.

REFIT Revolution combines various elements of fitness into an hour of CardioDance movements, toning and flexibility, strength training, and stretching.

The Solomon Calhoun Community Center's indoor gymnasium will be open for an hour of open or organized play for homeschooled students throughout St. Johns County.

Work together on personal and group fitness goals through two-mile walks at the Solomon Calhoun Center punctuated with exercises.

Get ready to move through a series of seated and standing low-impact aerobic exercises, geared toward seniors but suitable for nearly every fitness level.

Fish Camp

Boys: June 2 – 6 | Girls: June 9 – 13

9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Campers get to take fishing gear out on the water and learn safe boat-handling skills, how to use tackle and live bait in freshwater areas, how to clean and cook fish, and more.

Middle School: June 23 – 27 | K – 2nd: July 29 – August 1 | 3rd – 5th: August 4 – 8 Times vary

Kids will enjoy an engaging week filled with outdoor explorations, attending field trips every day and participating in kayaking, fishing, beach cleanups, and more.

June 7 – 11 | 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Kids from 11 to 15 who are ready to tap into their inner Katniss or Hawkeye can learn the fundamentals of archery, bow hunting, and bow fishing.
