"Carnations and Velvet" – Rev. Amy Beltaine
When the future looks bleak, we need stories of revolution and restoration. Amy will share stories from her adopted country where the Carnation Revolution ended a dictatorship, and other times and places where the people restored dignity and democracy in the face of hardship.
About our guest speaker: Reverend Amy Beltaine provides a UU ministry of spiritual mentoring through individual and group appointments. Helping friends and family of the oppressed to break open instead of being broken by the pain in the world. When (spouse) Hawthorne and Amy are not pulling their little home behind them they are at home in Portugal. A graduate of Meadville Lombard School for the Ministry, Amy is on the coordinating committee of the UU Spiritual Directors’ Network and chair of the Spiritual Direction program at Cherry Hill Seminary. Amy is a nearly life-long earth-honoring Process Pan-en-theist...and... aspires to become a Love-Ninja. Connect with Amy at http://amybeltaine.info.

Help Lucille Celebrate!
This Sunday, January 26, there will be cake during Coffee Hour to celebrate Lucille Rock’s 90th birthday!
Lucille says, “Come celebrate the many years Eliot Chapel has been part of my 90 years of life. My late husband and I found Eliot when we moved to St. Louis in 1968. Our children, Gail and Jerry, benefited so much from Sunday school and teen activities. Through the many years Eliot has been a place that enriched my life with services, activities, and always with love and caring.”
Happy Birthday, Lucille!

Child Dedications: Sunday, May 4
A much-loved ritual in Unitarian Universalist congregations is the welcoming and dedication of infants and young children as part of a Sunday worship service. We are currently planning to include this ritual on Sunday, May 4 during the 9:45 am service.
Families where one or both parents or caregivers are actively participating as members of Eliot Chapel are invited to consider participation and to talk with Rev. Krista Taves about the meaning of the ceremony.
For more information about the ceremony, Eliot membership, or to set up a meeting with Rev. Krista, please send an email to Scott Stewart at scott@eliotchapel.org no later than April 1.

Welcome to the Eliot Chapel Volunteer Village!
What village? The village it takes to raise a church! We all want our beloved church to thrive and grow. To do so, we need many villagers who will share the work. Maybe you prefer the geese analogy suggested at the worship service on Ingathering Sunday: “Sharing leadership, taking care of the fallen, and honking from behind.” Regardless, it is imperative that everyone steps up to bring Eliot Chapel forward and there are so many ways to participate. Sign up to be part of it, then grab a gold volunteer sticker in Adams Hall for your name tag! If you're interested, check out the possibilities or ask questions at volunteervillage@eliotchapel.org.

Can You Hear Them?
The voices. The voices of millions of people. Old, young, babies. Pleading for one chance – just one – to live free, in peace, with their loved ones. Here in our town, our city, our state. Our brothers and sisters of all colors and religions. They need our solidarity. Trump 2.0 is less than 3 days old and has already destroyed the hope of those here – even some born here – and those who long to come.
You can help. You can learn more, give a can of food, drive a child to a dental appointment, babysit so dad can work, even translate at the grocery or drug store. Or so many other possibilities. To learn about what's possible and help Eliot make its commitment to welcome the stranger, come to the Immigrant Justice Team meeting on Tuesday, January 28, at 7:00 pm in Adams Hall, or join our Zoom meeting (see Eliot on Zoom for details). Coming costs you nothing, commits you to nothing, offers useful information about the issues, and opens a host of opportunities to do a little bit of good with some of the friendliest people in our congregation. Please come. You will feel better for it. And so will our neighbors.

Eliot Chapel Nursery School invites Eliot families to this important workshop. Picky eating can be one of parents' most frustrating challenges, but it doesn’t have to be a constant battle. Explore key topics and leave with the tools to foster a more peaceful approach to mealtimes and empower your child to develop a positive relationship with food. Hear from Licensed Professional Counselor Marisa Gelfand. RSVP here.
