Requests for Proposals: Identification of Leading Equity Funding Practices |
SaskCulture has opened two Requests for Proposals for upcoming work to create Secondary Research and Literature Reviews that will inform the broader work of SaskCulture’s multi-phase program renewal activities.
With these Requests for Proposals, SaskCulture is looking for external consultants or agencies to provide detailed written reports that identify Leading Equity Funding Practices on two areas: Supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ Cultural Engagement; and
Supporting People with Disabilities Cultural Engagement.
The deadline for proposals is on December 8 for both listings. SaskCulture seeks to be an equitable organization. Priority will be given to groups or individuals that experience barriers to full participation in SaskCulture’s network, systems and structures.

There are a number of ways you can #JoinTheCKidsMovement during the Creative Kids Holiday Campaign this year and change a kid's life. Join the Creative Kids community on social media and help share the message about the benefits of arts and cultural activities, using the hashtags #GiftCreativity and #JoinTheCKidsMovement. Cultural planning grant now also open to cultural non-profits | |
The Community Cultural Engagement Planning (CCEP) grant’s eligibility guidelines have been updated to include non-profits.
Starting in the current round of funding, CCEP is now open to Saskatchewan cultural non-profit organizations working in partnership with at least one municipality or First Nation or Tribal Council, Métis Local or Métis Region. CCEP was previously open to only municipalities, First Nations, Tribal Councils, Métis Locals and Métis Regions. Organizations can contact Outreach Consultant Tara-Leigh Heslip with questions before applying.

2023 Multicultural Honour Awards recipients announced | As part of its Saskatchewan Multicultural Week celebrations, the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan announced the recipients of its annual awards. The Saskatchewan Multicultural Honours Awards celebrate individuals who are making significant contributions to multiculturalism in the province. This year's recipients are: Saskatchewan Multicultural Leadership Award - Darlene Stakiw, Youth Leadership Award - Ziyang Li, Leading Together Award: Individual - Lee and Lea Desjarlais, Leading Together Award: Organizational - Treaty Land Sharing Network. Read more | First Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Awards a success | This month, SaskCulture was proud to be one of the sponsors of the first ever Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Awards ceremony. A total of ten awards were handed out at the event, celebrating the best of First Nations and Métis music in the province. The 2024 Saskatchewan Indigenous Music Awards is already in the works, with plans to grow the ceremony over the years. Read more | New T3 trust reporting rules do not apply to charities | Since the announcement of Bill C-32, the Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, in 2022, there has been concern that charities would be required to file separate T3 returns for each internal trust held. However, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has reassured organizations they do not need to prepare to file for next year, as the new reporting rules do not apply to registered charities. Starting in January 2024, the CRA will have a new version of Form T3010, Registered Charity Information Return, to reflect new reporting requirements. Read more | | |

Saskatchewan Multicultural Week takes place every year in the week of November 22. This year, the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan (MCoS) is celebrating with a social media campaign with the theme "Celebrate Community, Honour Diversity, Act For Equity."
To join this year's campaign, you can share examples of community, diversity and equity found throughout various communities and cultures in Saskatchewan on social media using the hashtags #CelebrateCommunity, #HonourDiversity and #ActforEquity.

Volunteer Management (Museums Association of Saskatchewan)
This course will cover volunteer trends and motivation, and community analysis. You will also examine the relationship between the museum and community and its impact on volunteerism, learn how to write a volunteer policy, and understand the volunteer management cycle.
