SUHSD BOARD NOTES: November 13, 2024

Board Notes highlights key information and actions from the Sequoia Union High School District board meetings. RECOGNITIONS

Superintendent Leach recognized the Woodside High School's Student Leadership Program and Student Leadership Teacher/Student Activities Director Leslie With. The leadership program promotes all aspects of student activities, and are involved in many activities behind the scenes. In short, they help connect students with all aspects of Woodside High School!

BOARD MEMBERS SHAWNEECE STEVENSON AND CARRIE DU BOIS WERE HONORED FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THE DISTRICT

Last night members of the community, district leaders and fellow board members paid tribute to outgoing Board President Shawneece Stevenson and Trustee Du Bois for their dedicated service to the students of Sequoia Union High School District. Mariah Kallhoff, Field Representative

Office of Assemblymember Diane Papan presented a plaque on behalf of State Assemblymembers Papan and Marc Berman, and State Senator Josh Becker to Trustees Stevenson and Du Bois. Superintendent Leach thanked Ms. Stevenson and Ms. Du Bois, commenting on how much she appreciated their thought partnership, especially during the challenges of the Covid 19 pandemic. Menlo-Atherton Principal Karl Losekoot, Sequoia High School Principal Sean Priest, Woodside Principal Karen Van Putten, and Associate Superintendent Bonnie Hansen also testified their personal appreciation for the trustees focus on students, commitment to listening to parents, attendance at many school events, and for serving as advocates for students, and championing public education! Various community members also praised the work of Trustee Stevenson and Du Bois, including comments of appreciation for serving as role models to future leaders in the community. Fellow trustees Rich Ginn, Amy Koo and Sathvik Nori expressed deep appreciation, followed by reflections from Trustees Stevenson and Du Bois.

BOARD ACTION AND DISCUSSION ITEMS

  • The Board approved all items on the Consent Agenda
  • The Board approved the Charter Petition Renewal of Summit Preparatory High School.
  • The Board approved an amended superintendent contract with Crystal Leach to continue as Superintendent for an additional year effective from July 1, 2023, and terminating on June 30, 2028.
