Seeking DHMS PTSA Officers & Leads for the 2023-24 School Year

The DHMS PTSA Nominating Committee will begin seeking interested volunteers to fill next year's DHMS PTSA officer positions after tomorrow night's PTSA Membership Meeting. In the meantime, please consider volunteering for PTSA leadership!

Visit dorothyhamm.apsva.us/ptsa/committee-chairs for a list of all the board and committee positions that are open for election or appointment. New to DHMS families are also welcome. So if you know elementary school families who will be joining us next year, please share our call for volunteers with them. All experience levels, or none at all, are welcome; just a willingness to support our students, families, and faculty. Please contact DHMS PTSA President, Khal Monaro, with any questions or if you'd like to get involved.

Fresh Food Ideas Wanted!

In the coming weeks, the DHMS PTSA may be competing for a grant from the Cherrydale FTT Community Outreach Committee. The purpose of this grant would be to promote sustainable food sourcing, continue to serve our families, and combat food insecurity. To achieve this, we need you! We need your ideas for grant-funded program(s), and we need your support to ensure our success. Join us at our monthly PTSA meeting, this Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00p.m., to share ideas and select a project.

Last Week of the Trex Challenge - Recycle Your Plastic to Support DHMS!

Saturday, April 15th is the last day to submit Trex collections! Keep recycling your plastic film as part of DHMS's challenge to collect plastic film to be reused in composite decking. Here’s what to do:

1. Collect plastic film listed on the acceptable list.

2. Weigh your plastic film. (Kids on a bathroom scale with and without the plastic film is a great way to weigh!)

3. Email the weight of your plastic film to green@dhmsptsa.org.

4. Bring your plastic film to the Cherrydale Safeway, 3713 Langston Blvd, and place it in the white boxes outside the store or the plastic film collection box located just inside the store (where the carts are/candy machines are - it’s in the middle).
