Outliers and Outlaws

The Eugene Lesbian History Project and documentary film

November 2024

One week before our World Premiere screening at QDOC Film Festival in Portland, the festival has sold out the theater! This is great news - demonstrating the interest in the story of Eugene lesbian world-builders. But we know it will be a disappointment for some who had hoped to attend.

The festival may be able to seat some via the 'rush line'. QDOC holds seats for those with festival passes - and if some pass holders do not turn up, they can sell more tickets 15 minutes prior to the show. We recommend queuing up for the rush line before 11:45am.

QDOC is the only film festival in the world dedicated solely to exhibiting LGBTQIA+ documentary films. As a queer Oregon story, this festival has been a goal for our world premiere. We're so grateful to launch our film at QDOC.

More festivals and screening opportunities are coming! Watch for an announcement about a special screening in Eugene in February 2025. We will keep you all updated here and on our social media channels. We also welcome screening opportunities that you wish to create. Reach out to our Producer of Marketing and Distribution G. Chesler at outliersandoutlawsfilm@gmail.com to talk about ideas.

Outliers and Outlaws press

As we prepare for the festival, the story of Eugene Lesbians is being shared on social media and in the press. The Willamette Week covered our film in its profile of QDOC, City Cast Portland, a daily podcast covering local news and conversations about Portland, Oregon, gave us a shout out at the 32:00 minute mark of their November 8th show.

Last week, we were able to test our film in the historic Hollywood Theater before sharing it with you all. These words on screen resonated loudly: Victory over Bigotry!

We received a message from one of the Narrators in Outliers and Outlaws over the weekend: "Many of 'us' are feeling sadness and disappointment of how the election turned out for us women, elders and lesbians. We're fighting and feeling discounted and run over. We need to be with each other and be reminded of our accomplishments."

We did not make the film anticipating a premiere at the end of the horrific result of the presidential election, but we are glad to share and hold space at this time- remembering and moving forward a vision for what is possible.
