One Family Worship Experience

It’s not too late if you reach out to Kevin now...Children and Youth included as this is a One Family Worship experience - no Sunday School but the Nursery is open and staffed...it’s a fifth Sunday of the month, so we will do something different in worship. We are looking for poems that have nurtured and/or challenged your faith, your humanity, your spirit. If you would also be willing to read them or reflect on them in worship, please let us know that as well. Questions? [email protected]

Worship with Us this Sunday

January 29, 2023

10:00am In-person and Facebook Live or replay on Facebook later

We will enjoy some of the poetry in scripture including Jesus’ Beatitudes, Psalm 8, the love passage from 1Corinthians and God’s requirements in Micah 6. We will also hear from you as we see nurture, encouragement, challenge, beauty as we live our lives as faithfully as possible.

We have dedicated our financial pledges for 2023. The Stewardship Commission is eager to receive additional pledge cards/emails in advance of next Sunday’s Annual Budget Meeting which takes place immediately following worship in the sanctuary and on FB Live. Thank you!

Please participate in worship virtually via our livestream on Facebook if that is convenient for you and/or if you have tested positive for Covid in the last 5 days.

Masks should be worn and respected for in-person worship under the following conditions:

1) You have tested positive for COVID 6-10 days ago and you still have symptoms;

2) You are in a high-risk group and/or have underlying conditions;

3) You are more comfortable wearing a mask.

In order to protect individuals and the wider community, we strongly encourage up-to-date vaccinations and boosters against all communicable diseases.

Sunday School

No Sunday School this week – it’s a Fifth Sunday so we all worship together.

Children and Youth included -- we are looking for poems that have nurtured and/or challenged your faith, your humanity, your spirit. Send them along! If you would also be willing to read them or reflect on them in worship, please let us know that as well. Questions? [email protected]

This winter our children are learning about some of the people who met Jesus. Most of these stories are found in the Gospel of John: Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the first disciples, a blind man, the little boy with fish and bread, and many more.

Youth are using a new curriculum called Feasting on the Word. This curriculum is lectionary based with activities and discussions around topics of interest to youth as they relate to scripture.

Beware of scams and phishing! Fraudulent emails pretending to be church staff have been around for quite some time. Fraudulent texts claiming to be Kevin have started to come to PUCCers’ phones this week. Be careful and do not respond to these or other suspicious messages - even if an email or text at first sounds like someone you know and trust. Reminder: be vigilant with your personal information!

Humor

Why are winter days great?

They’re snow much fun!

Did you hear about the snowman spy?

He has a license to chill.

What did one snowflake say to the other?

“You’re one of a kind.”

“Let’s stick together!”

Love Came for Me

by Mo Thomas

WHEN

You peeled away all of the

     Psychology, theology,

        Masks, tasks,

     Fear-induced analysis, emotional paralysis,

  Games, shames, blames,

              And fancy man-plans

YOU

Reached into the Deepest Part of me

THERE

  Lay my true self

     Exposed and vulnerable and

        Terrified that no one

     Loved me, valued me

Understood me, loved me, enjoyed me.

FINALLY

I looked left and caught a glimpse of

Reality's Eyes Burning with Holy Fire

        And became fully persuaded

That I've been Loved and Embraced

  From before there was time.
