O praise Him all His mighty works

There is no language where you can't be heard

Your song goes out to all the earth

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

O hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah!

~ Chris Rice “Hallelujahs”

Dear Friends,

As Christian song writer Chris Rice so beautifully conveys, God’s glory through the resurrection of our Lord Jesus simply cannot be contained...

Rich & Rose Little

Interviewed by: Art Holden

As Rose Little likes to tell the story, she knew at age 14 that she would marry Rich Little one day.

It was love at first sight, but it really didn’t come to fruition until four years later after a chance meeting outside a bank.

“He said that he had just got paid, so I told him ‘Then you’re going to take me out to eat.’ He showed up at 6 o’clock, and we’ve been together ever since.”

You might say that a similar karma led the pair to Emanuel, but first a little background is necessary...

Celebrate Earth Day at Emanuel!

“Plastic Earth” documentary viewing

Saturday, April 22 at 3PM in the sanctuary

"Plastic Earth" is the first documentary feature film of its kind to cover the solutions and technologies being worked on in the world today to combat and eventually solve the plastic crisis that our world is facing.

Worldwide plastic production coming from fossil-based sources continues to rise and it contributes to climate change, pollution, and threatens the planet's species.

"Plastic Earth" follows the story of a concerned mother, Janice Overbeck. Janice goes on a journey to learn the full story of this problem and to uncover what is happening in the background to solve it. Through dozens of interviews with scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators, Janice gets first-hand insights on how we can get this problem under control. This documentary film features many of the heroes of the world working to solve the world's plastic and environmental issues.

Earth Day Casual Sunday (April 23)

Potluck sign up is in the narthex to attend and/or bring food to share. Lunch will be followed by our annual landscaping clean-up. Bring garden tools and gloves if you have them. Jean & Art Holden will lead the children on a nature hike at Silver Creek Metro Park.

Recycling projects & Earth Day resources:

Hazel Harvey and CIS are collecting clean plastic caps & lids (without paper or metal inside) for a 6ft. park bench for the 50th anniversary of Parfitt’s Paradise. This is an outdoor science lab and place to learn about nature for the Chippewa Schools on 3 acres that was started by now retired CHS teacher Dave Parfitt in 1973. The collection will take place through the end of the school year. Please contact Karen Foster for details.

Fort Island Primary School is collecting plastic film as part of the NexTrex recycling project. Plastic film packaging is used for countless products, including food storage bags, bubble wrap, newspaper sleeves and shipping envelopes. When this packaging is recycled properly through NexTrex, it can be processed and repurposed into durable outdoor living products. After more than a decade, this recycling challenge continues to educate and inspire young people and makes it possible for them to take an active role in helping the environment. There will be a container at the church for your donations and will continue through the next school year.

We are now collecting disposable plastic grocery bags. Please flatten them before placing them in the box in the narthex.

There are also links on our website and broadcast email and a QR code in your bulletin. For your convenience, you can also “Set as a favorite charity” to have our link show up on your PayPal homepage.

We have chosen to funnel our online donations through the PayPal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) charity. Using this fund, PayPal covers all transaction fees. PayPal Giving Fund will send you a tax receipt after each donation since they are receiving the donation and then sending the money to Emanuel. Emanuel will also keep track of your giving and send a year-end statement. Please make sure to select “Share my name and email with this charity.” above the donate button. This is the only way Emanuel can record your giving otherwise it will register as an anonymous donation.

Other ways to tithe if you are able:

  • Create a “Bill Pay” to the church through your online banking. Select “Add a Payee” (or similar wording based on your bank) and type in Emanuel United Church of Christ. Follow prompts to enter the church address: 16 Eastern Rd. Doylestown, OH 44230. You may have the option to add a memo if you choose. Once the church is created as a “Payee”, you can “pay” the church as you would any other bill pay. We receive a check from your bank.
  • Sunday offering is collected during worship.
  • Mail your donation to the church address or drop it off during office hours. For security reasons, please put your offering envelope inside another envelope if you leave it in the mailbox.
