Mass Readings for Today

From the President's Desk

Dear Savio Family,

May this upcoming Thanksgiving break be a reminder that each and every day gives us something to be thankful for. Each and every one of us is a blessing to someone and we are blessed by so many others too. So, thank those people. Tell them you love them. Enjoy the holiday, the time, and the people you share it with.

A few items for your attention and awareness:

  • The Savio Golf Classic was a wonderful event and successful due to so many people. Special thanks to Dr. Danna Kelemen for all of her effort and collaboration with outstanding volunteers and support staff. Please consider buying chances to win the "Golf Ball Drop" as the funds raised will support Savio athletics and you could win the $2,500 prize!
  • The inaugural "Heritage Award" and "Athletic Hall of Fame" recognition forms will be sent out this Friday. Please check your emails and our Savio social media to learn more about the criteria and nomination forms. All forms must be submitted to Mr. Psencik by the listed due date. There will be additional announcements shared after the honorees have been selected.
  • A school survey will be sent out to parents, students, faculty, and staff between Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. More information to come. This survey will assist us as we update and renew our strategic plan for the next several years.
  • We are still accepting applications for a part-time assistant to our Director of Facilities and Grounds. If you, or someone you know, is interested in a part time schedule, has a great work ethic, has general skills and is willing to learn, please apply. Interested candidates should send me a direct email at tcullen@saviochs.org. More information on how to apply will be shared with all candidates.

God bless,

Tim

Upcoming Events

Friendsgiving is Here! House Council & SPA will host Savio’s Friendsgiving Feast tomorrow, Thursday, November 16th. This annual tradition is a great opportunity for students to come together as a community and share in fellowship with a potluck feast. Houses will eat the Thanksgiving food brought by other students in their own House. A special bell schedule will be provided to allow for an extended lunch (similar to International Week’s potluck). Students can bring the food with them when they arrive tomorrow, and they will get a special ticket to help determine which students go through the lines first. If you need to deliver it later in the morning, please contact Dr. Derbez at aderbez@saviochs.org and Mr. Winkeler at pwinkeler@saviochs.org. The feast will begin at approximately 11:20 AM.

Principal's Message

Dear Savio Family,

As we enter into this Thanksgiving break, I just wanted to take some time to say thank you to all of you - our parents, grandparents, alumni and all friends of Savio. St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School is a gift from God, but this gift does not happen without the support from all of you. Thank you for trusting your children to us, thank you for the gift of your time, talent, and treasure. We are truly blessed by all of you.

I also want to thank all of the faculty and staff of St. Dominic Savio who work tirelessly day in and day out to make Savio the special place that it is. The care and concern that they show to our students truly makes Savio a family atmosphere. We are truly blessed by their efforts.

On behalf of all of us here at St. Dominic Savio, we want to wish you all a restful, blessed and joyful Thanksgiving break.

Thank you and God Bless,

Evan

Thank you to all who supported us in our Fall Play, The Babbling Brooks. Thank you to the parents who brought us food during tech week, those who helped us set up and tear down, and thank you to all who came out to see the show. We look forward to April when we will be presenting our Spring Musical, Freaky Friday. We hope to see you there!

You should have received your Eagle Fund annual appeal materials in the mail late last week or over the weekend. So far, we have received gifts and pledges totaling over $25,000 in just a few days!

We hope you take some time in the coming week to stop and discern your gift to this year's appeal. Every dollar you gift will benefit every student at Savio in the coming year in all areas of their educational experience. If you won't be making your gift now, please fill out the commitment card that was included in your mailing so that we can include your pledge into our on-going totals to share with the community!

If you have any questions about the appeal or need help discerning your giving options, please contact Gina Kerley, Director of Advancement at gkerley@saviochs.org.

Thank you in advance for your participation. Let's try to get to 50% participation before December 31st!

Savio Spirituality:

The Savio Rosary Group prays the rosary each weekday during the school year at 8:30 am in the chapel and on Zoom. Every decade is offered on behalf of and for the intentions of a specific event, teacher, staff member, or student. By the end of the school year, we have prayed for everyone at Savio by name. The Zoom link (Meeting ID: 558 531 0293, Passcode: prayrosary) is used each day for anyone who cannot make it to the chapel. We will begin praying for Juniors on Monday, November 27th. Please consider yourself invited, we would love to see you there!
