Kid Fish 2025

Looking for a reel-y fun activity

for your kids?


The Parks & Recreation department is hosting Kid Fish 2025 on Saturday, February 1, 2025. This inaugural event is for kids ages 14 and under. The event, held at City Arena (3310 Poplar), will be from 10:00 am-Noon. Registration begins at 8:00 am.


Participants will compete for trophies for "First Fish Caught" and "Longest Fish Caught" in the respective age groups of 0-4, 5-9, and 10-14. The award ceremony will take plan at 12:05 pm at the pavilion.


Bait (corn) will be provided by the Parks & Rec department, and fishing poles will be provided by Texas Parks & Wildlife. Participants may bring their own equipment.

2024 was a busy year for the Parks & Recreation department with a range of events and programs such as princess parties, superhero dances, monthly Arts in the Parks, and Christmas in July--just to name a few. The department also began work on the renovation of all citywide parks and also established the Parks Youth Council.


Parks staff is planning events and programs for current and future years and seeks the community's input to determine community priorities to offer facilities and programs that enhance the quality of life in Marshall for individuals and families. To share your thoughts, please complete the survey.

Free Disposal Day

There will be a Free Disposal Day on Saturday, January 25 from 8:00 am-Noon at the City of Marshall Convenience Station located on 2300 Five Notch Rd. This is a great opportunity for City residents to dispose of items such as clothes, furniture, household items, and small appliances. This service is only for City of Marshall residents. Proof of residency in the form of a City water bill is required.


Free disposal days are held quarterly. The next scheduled days in 2025 are Saturday, April 26, Saturday, July 26, and Saturday, October 25 from 8:00 am-noon. For more information about Disposal Day or the Convenience Station, call (903) 935-1004.


On an annual basis, residents may also request two free dump passes from the Water Billing department located in City Hall. For more information on the free disposal passes, contact Water Billing at (903) 935-4435.

NEIGHBORLY Help

The City has been made aware of older adults, disabled individuals, and those living out of town who seek assistance to maintain their properties but are unable to due to extenuating circumstances. To meet this need, City staff is compiling a list of individuals and businesses who would be willing to help neighbors in need. Providing the list of names to residents requesting help will not imply a referral or recommendation by the City of Marshall or its staff.

The City of Marshall uses the CivicReady Mass Notification System to send emergency alerts and other notifications.


Subscribers can register to receive messages via phone call, text message, and/or email in English or Spanish (other languages also available).

The City is installing new water meters with a smart meter reading system. Replacing old water meters will ensure that residents' water usage is tracked accurately.


The new, digital smart water meters will offer residents access to real-time water usage data through an online portal and a smartphone app.
