We will be presenting two world premières by student composers, small chamber ensembles, and conclude with an exciting work called Jupiter, from The Planets by Gustav Holst. The students have been working hard to prepare this program and are hoping to have a large audience.

Judging will take place on June 6th and 7th, but you do not need to volunteer for both days unless you wish. Judging can work with your schedule!

WEDNESDAY: May 3rd in the LARC - SoCo Reading Series Presents Erika Krouse!

On behalf of CHASS

SoCo Reading is honored to announce that Erika Krouse, author of Tell Me Everything: The Story of a Private Investigation, Contenders, and Come Up and See Me Sometime, will visit campus on May 3, 2023.

A creative writing professor at Lighthouse Writers Workshop and Regis University, Krouse’s Tell Me Everything was a New York Times Editors’ Choice and has been optioned for TV adaptation by 20th Century Studios. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Granta, Ploughshares, One Story, and elsewhere. 

She will be holding her workshop, “Writing Dynamic Scenes,” at 1 pm and a reading later at 7 pm. Both events will be held in the LINC X Presentation Space on the second floor of the LARC. Both events are free and will include light refreshments. Copies of Krouse’s book Tell Me Everything will be available for purchase, courtesy of the CSU Pueblo Bookstore.

Administrative Professional Council Officer Nominations Open

On behalf of the Administrative Professional Council

Nominations are now open for Administrative Professional Council Executive Committee. This year we elect a chair, vice chair, treasurer and three members at-large. The APC Executive Committee is our representative on shared governance committees, boards, etc. We help to set policy for the university that directly affect administrative professional employees. You can have someone nominate you, or even nominate yourself for an open position. You will need to go to: https://forms.office.com/r/R98nAfw7YA to submit a nomination.

Any administrative professional can nominate, but those with a title of provost, dean, vice president, or are in HR are not eligible to vote or hold an officer position.

Banner 101 for Students

With semester winding down the PACK Center would like to provide some opportunities for students to get a Self Service Banner (SSB) refresher before heading into the summer months. Beginning April 4th through May 5th, the PACK Center will have staff and computers available in the Wolf Den on designated dates and times to walk you through some of the main features of Banner. 

During these times you can learn the following. How to look up and register for courses, how to look up your bill and how to read your account balance, how to use "Plan Ahead" a new feature in SSB, and also how to look access your transcript and review your grades when they are posted. Staff will be available the following dates and times. 

Mondays | 11:45am - 2:45pm & 3pm - 4pm

Tuesdays | 2pm - 5pm

Wednesdays | 9am - 12pm

Thursdays | 8am - 10am

Fridays | 9am -12pm

The MAPS Center for STEM Support presents: STEM Affinity Groups!

The MAPS Center for STEM Support strives for excellence in providing holistic support services to all STEM students through culturally competent programming and resources in a safe, inclusive environment. We are equally committed to decreasing mental health stigma among STEM students, faculty, and staff.

MAPS hopes to give space for developing student-led communities that bring together diverse, and historically underrepresented people within STEM fields, as part of our commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) through the introduction of Affinity Groups.

Meetings will begin Monday, 2/13/23 and be held weekly following this schedule in the MAPS Office (LS 114):

President's Blue & Red Gala to Honor Dr. Margie Massey

On behalf of the CSU Pueblo Foundation

CSU Pueblo Professor of Education, Dr. Margie Massey, Johnson Controls, Eric and Renee Carson, and alumnus Timothy Simmons, 1969, will be honored as part of the Colorado State University Pueblo 2023 President’s Blue and Red Gala on Saturday, May 20. Proceeds from the Gala directly benefit future generations of CSU Pueblo students through scholarships and programs.

The 2023 President’s Blue and Red Gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails in the Occhiato Student Center Ballroom Foyer.

Tickets for the 2023 President’s Gala are $150 per person or $1,750 for a corporate table of eight. Information on tickets, sponsorships, and corporate tables is available through the CSU Pueblo Foundation, 719-549-2307.

Spring Cleaning? Donate your stuff to support students! Hold on to your gently-used furniture, home goods, clothing, kids stuff, sports equipment, or anything that still has use (not trash!). Your donations will be featured at the Thunderwolf Flea Market on June 3rd. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Student Affairs Emergency Fund and the APC Textbook Scholarship. You can take your donations to Residence Life and Housing starting May 26th – details to follow.

Celebrating the History of CSU Pueblo: 1933-2023

Time to celebrate CSU Pueblo's 90th Anniversary! Journey through the years while celebrating 90 years of school history by visiting the Archives’ newest exhibit "Celebrating the History of CSU Pueblo: 1933-2023." This informative and nostalgic exhibit is located within the Archives and Special Collections which is located on the sixth floor of the library. It will be available for public viewing the entire year.

Researchers and Program Managers, Update Your CITI Compliance Training Requirements

Please ensure that your CITI Program Compliance training is current as required by the University and state and federal funding agencies. 

Compliance is a critical part of the operation of any university, and non-compliance can negatively affect not only a single researcher but all university researchers. CSU Pueblo provides all faculty, staff, and students with the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) for its research compliance training requirements.

New to the CITI Program? CITI is utilized by the Top-25 Best National Universities, 95% of Carnegie R1 Research Universities, more than 12 million users, with more than 22 million total course completions. 

With the recent influx of federal funding across the university, institutional compliance and proof of individual research compliance training and updates have become an even more essential requirement. In addition, individual non-compliance can also lead to research misconduct, so don’t delay!
