Thanks to the collective advocacy of educators, business and community leaders and voters like you, we have avoided school shutdowns – for now. Today, in a bi-partisan effort, two-thirds of the Arizona State Senate and House have passed a resolution to allow schools to temporarily exceed the Aggregate Expenditure Limit (AEL)!
This action means schools will be able to finish the school year without having to cut more than $1 billion from their school budgets. This means no school closures, furloughs or disruptions in transportation. It also means that sports, proms and graduations will continue as usual.
Today we celebrate this win…However, we still need a permanent solution to the AEL. We can’t continue to have schools, educators and students go through this same struggle every year.
Will you take a few minutes to say thank you to legislative leaders and urge them to find a long-term solution?
Your note will go to the leaders who introduced the resolutions:
President Petersen, Speaker Toma, Representative Cook, and Senator Bennet.
Please make the email your own by thanking them for their efforts in your own words.
Thank you!
