March is the month of the Vernal Equinox and coupled with Daylight Savings moving us an hour forward, we can really feel the days getting longer and warmer.

The gift of water has come in abundance this month, not only with massive rains but snow too ! Despite the downside of this deluge, which has wreaked terrible havoc in some areas, the reservoirs are filling up and there is some hope that our ten year drought is drawing to an end.

Thanks to the rainfall, gardens and hillsides are teeming with spring flowers in bloom and blossoming trees.

This month’s newsletter takes a close look at how CBD can alleviate Fibromyalgia symptoms, a painful condition which today afflicts an estimated 10 million Americans.

We aso pay tribute to the incredible achievements of pioneering Organic Chemist and scientist Raphael Mechoulam, who passed this month at 92 years of age. Mechoulam’s work spans over fifty years and provides the foundation for everything we know scientifically about cannabinoids and how they interact in our bodies.

Here at Synergy Wellness we are proudly honoring Mechoulam’s legacy by providing cannabinoid-based medicine and always staying open and aware of new research and developments in the medical cannabis world.

Is CBD Effective in Treating Fibromyalgia?

Yes! Research indicates that CBD can alleviate many of its symptoms

By Dan Reich

Fibromyalgia is a complex musculoskeletal disorder characterized by widespread pain that can present as sharp or achey with amplified pain sensations. It is estimated that 2% to 4% in the general population suffer from it and it’s much more common in women than men.

Fibromyalgia protocol:

Here at Synergy Wellness, we found CBD is best for inflammation and THC is best for pain. The initial protocol we recommend for fibromyalgia symptoms are our Indica blend CBD-rich tinctures #103/104/105 (alcohol/olive oil/ sesame oil infusion) in a 4:1 CBD:THC ratio, which generally provides significant relief. If pain symptoms don’t respond to the 4:1 CBD:THC ratio, then a recommendation of our next stronger tinctures "Balance" #154,155,156 (alcohol/olive oil/sesame oil infusion), a 1:1 CBD:THC for chronic pain. Start with 5-7 drops and titrate slowly up to 30 drops.

In Memoriam: Raphael Mechoulam

Organic Chemist, Cannabis Pioneer

1931-2023

The international cannabis community is mourning the passing of Raphael Mechoulam on the 9th of March 2023 at the age of 92. Widely recognized as the Grandfather of Cannabis Research, Mechoulam was the first to isolate the active compounds, THC, CBD and CBG and later led the team that discovered the endocannabinoids Anandamide and 2-AG . Anandamide comes from the Sanskrit word Ananda because there is not a good word in Hebrew for bliss. Mechoulam’s work laid the foundation of cannabinoid research which led to the discovery of the human Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
