Volunteers repair section of trail damaged by winter storms.

Volunteer Day Announced to Restore Storm-Damaged Trails

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking to recruit up to 75 volunteers on Saturday, April 15, for the first large-scale trail volunteer day, following the damaging winter storms. Volunteers of all experience levels are invited to enjoy a morning of trail work and a group barbeque in the afternoon.

Summer Camp Registration Opens Wednesday


The City's Summer Camp Program offers 20 unique camp experiences and serves children ages 4-17. Many camps are expected to fill on registration day, Wednesday, April 5. Families interested in participating in summer camp are encouraged to create their accounts and update all personal and medical information now, to get a head start on registration.

Library Collaborates with Partners in Education to Distribute Free Computers 


Register for an internet safety class on Wednesday, April 12 and receive a free computer. The computer will be yours to keep for personal and professional use. The required course is offered in English and Spanish and covers topics such as; cyber-bullying, phishing, privacy settings, and enabling parental controls.

Construction Continues for Westside Community Paseos Project


Construction for the Westside Community Paseos Project, which is providing strong walking and biking connections within the Westside, and from the Westside to Downtown, is continuing on the 600 block of West Micheltorena Street and will last for two months in this location. The total project duration is approximately six months.

Westside Pavement Maintenance Work Kicks off Next Week


The City will begin intersection improvement work on West Valerio Street at Calle Canon and West Valerio Street at Hillside Avenue. Construction kicks off Monday, April 10. The project is part of the City’s Pavement Maintenance Project, which includes the construction of new access ramps, pavement grind and overlay and the remaining link of the Modoc Multiuse Path.
