SPRING 2023 EDITION

Happy Spring!

As the weather continues to warm, you can feel the energy and excitement of the park growing from our community each day. The first few months of 2023 has been full of exciting announcements for the park - a robust Community Partners Program, the announcement of our "I Remember When..." project and popular Summer Celebration Auction, and the addition of two outstanding individuals who joined our staff.

This time of year also brings updated park hours with our park rangers fully on-duty, along with our Visitors Center beginning to open on weekends moving forward. With our attractions becoming open as timing permits, our picnic and pavilion rentals have been flooding in as families and friends plan their fun for the upcoming months. Make sure you call our office at 413-584-5457 to book yours!

We are at an exciting time in our park year and doing everything we can to get ready for the busy season ahead. When you can, please take a look at the important information and updates in this newsletter.

Look forward to seeing you at the park soon!

Community Partners Program

We are humbled and excited to see the success of our Community Partners Program since we launched about one month ago. With dozens of organizations on board, Look Park is truly blessed to be a part of a community that supports one another and finds both common goals and ways to accomplish them together.

Knowing that so many local organizations are generous with their time, donations, and resources to Look Park (and the many other regional nonprofits), we sought to create a program highlighting the businesses and individuals that help keep our park moving forward.

Spring Appeal: "I Remember When..."

When someone possesses a specific memory from a moment in their lives, it is often said that they can recall their complete environment in tremendous detail. The sights, sounds, people – all of the pieces that put together a good story to tell their friends and loved ones, even many years later. For us at Look Park, we’ve been fortunate to provide nearly 100 years of those memories, so much so that when people hear the name “Look Park,” it is usually followed up with the phrase, “I remember when…”

This year, as our theme, we want to hear your “I remember when…” stories. Whether it was a wedding, concert, event, family outing, or just a stroll through on a random occasion, your stories make up the fabric of our beloved park.

We will be proudly displaying some of them throughout the park for our thousands of visitors to see throughout the year. In addition to your story, your donation this year allows for us to sustain our beautiful park and allow for even more memories to be created in 2023.

We rely on the support of our community to keep Look Park the gem that it is, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Look Park announces hiring of Penney, Lingenberg

Mark Penney has been hired as our new Operations Director at Look Memorial Park. Mark joins us after a decade-long career in cultural and historical resource management as an archaeologist, followed by more than ten years in retail leadership.

"When I moved here in 2007, it was clear that Look Park was a very special place for generations of people. My wife and I celebrated our wedding here, we watched our young daughters grow up in the park, we saw some of our favorite bands at The Pines, and it is without question our dog's favorite place to come for a walk.

I love the idea of working at what I feel is the crown jewel of our community. I hope that my passion for enjoying nature and outdoor spaces will translate into fostering an enhanced visitor experience for our guests when they come to create their own family memories."

Bob Lingenberg has been hired as our new Facilities and Grounds Director at Look Memorial Park. Bob has worked in the Northampton and Easthampton area for the past 31 years in golf course turf management and landscaping.

"My passion has always been working outside. When this job opened, I jumped at the opportunity to work at such a great place with an amazing community. I have always loved every aspect of Look Park and seeing everyone enjoy the park is very rewarding for me.

If you see me at any of our fantastic events or working on a project, please come up and say hi - I'd love to meet you."
