The City’s Temporary Public Arts Program celebrates the City’s artistic traditions and features rotating art exhibits in public spaces. The City is again rotating two of its temporary art pieces and has selected two new art pieces to showcase for the community to enjoy. The Temporary Public Arts Program aims to highlight works of art that will be seen by both residents and visitors alike on pedestrian pathways and traffic boulevards. Fletcher Cove Tot Lot Replacement Project
Exciting news! Earlier this week, City Staff held a pre-construction meeting with the selected contractor for the Tot Lot replacement project at Fletcher Cove Park to discuss the tentative work schedule and expectations for this highly anticipated project. Construction is expected to begin in early April and the community can keep tabs on the project and stay up to date by visiting the project page on the City’s website or by scanning the QR code on the sign at the park.
Due to recent storm events, the City will be performing an emergency repair to a damaged storm drain pipe located across Highland Drive near Ramona Place. This work will require the temporary closure of Highland Drive to through traffic during construction hours (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) on Monday, March 27th and Tuesday, March 28th (weather permitting). Access will be provided for local residents and the road will be reopened after work hours. Appropriate Traffic Control Measures and detour signs will be in place. Please avoid the construction work zone if at all possible and follow construction traffic control and detour signs.
The Fletcher Cove Community Center will be temporarily closed during the months of April and May to allow for much needed maintenance on the facility. No events or meetings will occur during construction to allow for the City to carry out significant maintenance work including roof repair, siding replacement, and other cosmetic repairs without interruption and to ensure the facility is operational as soon as possible.
To facilitate maintenance and improvements along the coastal rail corridor, there will be no COASTER service this weekend, March 25th - 26th. No replacement bus service connecting COASTER stations will be available. Alternatives for some COASTER passengers may include BREEZE Route 101 or MTS connections. Coastal rail service will re-open for regularly scheduled service in time for the Monday morning commute. Passengers should note that trains may be delayed up to fifteen minutes on Monday.
