March 17 - March 26, 2023
|

I don’t know whether it’s written down in any official place or not, but in my mind there’s always a shift in Lent at Rose Sunday. This day is traditionally a day of rejoicing and refreshment in the midst of our Lenten disciplines. We’ll celebrate this day of rejoicing on Sunday with the annual Rose Sunday concert, featuring our own Keith Shafer, at 4:00 in the afternoon with a reception following. For me at least, this day also marks a turn from living from Ash Wednesday to living towards Easter. Of course, all of Lent is a movement towards Holy Week. But now the joy of Easter is within sight and for the rest of the season we’ll pray that God will help us cleanse our hearts and prepare with joy for the Paschal feast, keeping us fervent in prayers and in works of mercy.
The ways that we as a community are preparing for the Paschal feast (Easter) are largely listed below: the Rose Sunday concert, adult formation on Sundays looking at each day in Holy Week, an upcoming Friday night fish fry, prayer on Wednesday nights and on much of the day on Thursdays, service to our neighbors. Join us in these fervent prayer and in works of mercy.
P.S. The churchwardens and vestry of Saint Paul’s are meeting in retreat at the church this weekend. Please keep us in your prayers as we gather together to pray, discern, and plan.

ALL children inherently know God, but it is up to us to give them the language of the Christian faith so they can grow to make meaning of our faith in their own lives. Godly Play is a profound method rooted in Montessori principles that forms child spirituality by attending to their natural gifts for wonder and discovery. We cannot wait to welcome your children each Sunday!
