Hello GMAR Members,

I’m so excited to start this new year as chair of the GMAR!

I’m hoping for a little milder 2025, with more listings to satisfy first-time buyer demand, more construction, and no new practice changes!

I am very honored to have a front-row seat to much of the action this year, and there are opportunities for you to do the same. If you’re interested in volunteering for a GMAR Committee, check out the post below. If you’d like to be part of our Young Professional Network, click here. There is a lot of activity going on at each level, and I would definitely encourage you to get involved and see where your dues dollars go.

Another thing you should watch is the GMAR calendar. In April we will take part in REALTOR^® & Government Day in Madison. It’s free and is a great way to see how government works – it’s not as dysfunctional as you may think – and meet with our elected officials. In addition to that, we have our Brewers game, Golf Outing and YPN White Party coming up. They are great networking opportunities! 

During my year as chairwoman, the GMAR will continue to focus on how we can help you and your business. After all, our mission is, “to help our members help their clients!”

Milwaukee Public Schools is seeking interested and committed community members to serve on steering committees that will help guide decisions about its buildings. An interest form is available on the Long-Range Facilities Master Plan website at https://www.mpsfacilitiesplan.com/steering-committees. Submissions to serve on the steering committees will be accepted until January 17, with the first meetings potentially taking place as early as late January.

Selected participants will serve on a citywide and/or regional steering committee to help shape the district’s facilities plan. Meetings will be held monthly.

The REALTORS^® Home & Garden Show, presented by Unilock, is scheduled for March 21-30, 2025. Providing your client base with a free ticket will allow you a valuable opportunity to maintain that important personal connection. It has proven to be an effective and inexpensive marketing tool for many GMAR members who order every year and view it as one approach to their growth. They report that sending VIP tickets has proven to be an invaluable return on a nominal investment.

Let’s dig into the data to best advise our clients how to answer the question: is it a smart choice for me to buy a house? We will discuss topics such as:

1. What are rate forecasts for 2025? What are factors we are watching that could impact mortgage rates?

2. How can we help clients understand the current state of the market?

3. Are houses “overpriced”? Is there a “bubble” that is going to pop soon?

4. Is real estate even a good investment anymore?

5. Is it possible for housing to be affordable considering how much house prices have risen?

Milwaukee Habitat's current build season is drawing to a close, with many of this year's 32 homes now in their final stages.

Current volunteer opportunities are below:

Flooring (Max 4 Volunteers) - January 15, 16, 17

Finishing Tasks (Max 6 Volunteers) - One day (Wednesday - Saturday) During the weeks of January 8th, January 23rd, January 29th, February 5th, February 19th

Painting (Max 12 volunteers) - One day (Wednesday - Saturday) during the week of January 8th

Volunteer opportunities are Wednesday - Saturday ONLY. Volunteer times are always from 8am-3pm.
