January is School Board Appreciation Month

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster has issued a proclamation declaring January 2025 as School Board Recognition Month. On behalf of the leadership teams, faculty, and staff of Jasper County School District (JCSD), we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated school board members. JCSD Cell Phone Policy is in Effect

The purpose of this policy is to establish a phone-free learning environment in order to promote focus, engagement, and academic success. By restricting the use of personal electronic devices during the school day, this policy aims to foster a productive atmosphere in which students can develop critical skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Students will be encouraged to engage meaningfully with peers and school staff, preparing them for success in college, careers, and life.

This policy is aligned with the South Carolina General Appropriations Bill, H. 5100 of 2024, Proviso 1.103, which mandates that school districts implement policies prohibiting student access to personal electronic communication devices during the school day to receive state funds allocated for State Aid to Classrooms.

Community News: Night to Shine - Special Needs Prom

About Night to Shine

On Friday, February 7, 2025, LowCountry Community Church will host Night to Shine, sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Night to Shine values, honors, and supports honored guests and their families through a prom centered on God’s love for people with special needs held simultaneously worldwide on the Friday before Valentine’s Day each year. The event is open to individuals with special needs ages 14 and older. Every guest of Night to Shine enters this complimentary event on a red carpet, complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests receive the royal treatment, including limousine rides, professional photography, hair and makeup stations, corsages and boutonnieres, shoeshines, a catered dinner, a karaoke room, and, of course, a dance floor… all leading up to the moment when each guest has crowned a king or queen. Additionally, caretakers are welcome to join us in enjoying food, entertainment, and rest while remaining onsite during Night To Shine or just drop off their guests. Each year, we see hundreds of special needs individuals come together and feel honored and celebrated at this event!
