Assembly Bill 1000 (Reyes; D-Colton), a de facto ban on warehouses, is set to be heard by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee on Monday. This bill, which was recently labeled a job killer by CalChamber, will kill new housing and jobs reliant on these projects.

We encourage companies to join CBPA and its affiliates in opposing AB 1000. A template and instructions on how to submit a letter of opposition have been provided.

AB 68 (Ward; D-San Diego) – This bill strips local governments of their land-use authority by permanently prohibiting certain housing projects. It essentially mandates exclusionary land use policies, which will further restrict housing supply, raise costs and prices of homes, make commercial and retail projects more difficult, further economic inequality, and undermine employers’ ability to recruit for jobs.

Due to its negative impacts on housing and jobs, CBPA opposes this bill.

AB 70 (Rodriguez; D-Pomona) – This bill extends Trauma Kit installation requirements to certain tenant improvements of existing buildings. It extends the liability protections and notification standards in lieu of training requirements previously negotiated by our industry.

While CBPA has opposed this bill in the past, the language has been modified from prior iterations and negative impacts to the commercial real estate industry have been mitigated. Because of this, CBPA has taken a neutral position on the bill.
