Midtown Businesses Featured In the News

Bar Pigalle, a vibrant restaurant and bar with French influence is helmed by award-winning mixologist Travis Fourmont and Certified Sommelier Joseph Allerton. Tucked inside The Carlton Lofts, the historic building, built by legendary American architect Louis Kamper, was also the backdrop for one of the hottest jazz scenes in the 1920s and 1930s. The building’s rich history coupled with Brush Park once being known as Little Paris is the perfect location for a fresh, new dining option like Bar Pigalle. Bar Pigalle will serve French inspired cuisine and a mélange of playful cocktails with a fantastic wine list.

Developments to Watch
The Renovation of Stanley Hong's Mannia Cafe

The former Stanley Hong's Mannia Cafe, once an iconic local gathering spot in Milwaukee Junction on Baltimore has been purchased by Detroiter Jen Lyon. Plans have been approved by the Historic District Commission to renovate the structure for a new music and hospitality venue. 
Projects Moving Forward South of Mack:
A new AC Hotel and renovated Bonstelle Theater by the Roxbury Group. Groundbreaking scheduled this summer.

Woodward West mixed-use:
This project is seeing strong leasing with close to 70% of the 200 residential units leased.

City Club Midtown:
November groundbreaking on the new 350 unit apartment complex, urban Target store and new greenspace.
Patterson Rowhouse:
The first phase of the Patterson Rowhouse project is now complete. 3 residential rental units are still available. Click here for stunning photo's of this historic rowhouse renovation in Brush Park.

Detroit Shipping Co.:
Phase Two is moving to a closing with 14 micro units of retail and a 32 room boutique hotel. Click here for the latest rendering of the project.

Thyme & Honey:
Thyme & Honey has signed a lease with Midtown Detroit, Inc. to open on West Grand Blvd next to New Center Park. Click here for more details on this business.

K Walker Collective:
K Walker Collective has signed a lease with Midtown Detroit, Inc. to open on Cass Avenue in the fall.

Craig's Coffee Roastery:
Craig's Coffee will be opening on Peterboro just west of Cass this fall.

Detroit Public Theatre:
Announces their opening season at their new home on Third Avenue in the heart of Detroit's thriving cultural district. Learn more here.
Neighborhood Updates
Midtown's Dog Park on Cass and Canfield
Jeremy Sasson, owner of Townhouse and Prime and Proper, is finishing up the renovation of the commercial property on Second at Alexandrine for a new restaurant scheduled to open by year end.

The Norwood, a new event space and bar is fully under renovation at 6531 Woodward in New Center.

Michigan Science Center recently re-opened its IMAX Theater after a full renovation. Click here for more details.

WSU plans to bring free public outdoor wi fi to the Midtown Dog Park on Cass at Canfield. This is in partnership with Merit Networks, the Utah Education and Telehealth Network, and Midtown Detroit, Inc.
Two New Center Intermodal Facility Open Houses

Option 1: A virtual open house on Zoom on July 26 where there will be a brief presentation on the project followed by a question-and-answer session.
When: Tuesday, July 26 from 5:30 pm to 7 pm
Where: Zoom. Use this link.

Option 2: An in-person open house in the Fisher Building on July 28 where there will be boards, surveys and project team members available to explain the project and collect feedback.
When: Thursday, July 28 (project team members will be present to answer questions between 8 am to 9:30 am and 11:30 am to 1:00 pm)
Where: Fisher Building, 3011 W Grand Blvd., Detroit, (at the West Entrance to the 1st Floor Lobby and on the 2nd Floor near the North Elevators)
MDOT to Close I-94 Freeway July 22-July 29

Second Avenue Bridge over I-94 will be moved into place the week of July 22nd.
This will require a closure of I-94 between M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and I-75. This will be a complete closure; detours will be posted and can be seen on the accompanying map and on the I-94 project website at https://i94detroit.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/second-ave-detours.pdf
