In case you missed the city’s Gig-A-Byte newsletter on Friday, October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe and secure online. This initiative, led by government and industry partners, aims to educate individuals and organizations on how to protect themselves from cyber threats such as data breaches, phishing, and malware. The theme for 2024 emphasizes proactive steps everyone can take to reduce the risk of being a victim. Here are a few simple tips to keep yourself secure online:

  • Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Ensure your passwords are long, complex, and different for each account. Consider using a password manager.

  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Whenever possible, add an extra layer of protection by requiring more than just a password to access your accounts.

  • Be Cautious with Emails: Watch out for phishing scams. Don’t click on links or open attachments from unknown senders.

  • Update Your Software: Regularly update your devices and applications to ensure you have the latest security patches.

  • Secure Your Wi-Fi Network: Use a strong password and encryption to protect your home network from intruders.

As the City of Gig Harbor continues to make cybersecurity a priority, we encourage all residents to do the same. By staying informed and vigilant, we can work together to protect our community from cyber threats.

The Gallery is a very different cannabis experience. Thought of first as a conceptualized art gallery with cannabis retail as a secondary consideration, our primary concern is to provide our customers with an experience completely different from what they had come to expect as a marijuana retailer. Most people expect a dingy ‘greencross’ in a shady storefront. Combating the idea of old-school marijuana sales is very important to us and upon your first visit to The Gallery, you’ll understand why.
