Dear Residents -
This afternoon, the names of Sgt. Edward O’Grady Jr. and Officer Waverly “Chipper” Brown, the two police officers who were murdered during the Brinks armored car robbery on October 21, 1981, were enshrined in the Village of Nyack with the commemorative renaming of Lydecker Street in their honor. Followed up with the annual memorial service at the site of their deaths, it was a somber day and a good reminder of the risks that officers take every day while doing their job to serve and protect. So, next time you see one of our officers, please be sure to thank them for all that they do to keep us safe.
Well, sadly, it looks like we are going to have another gloomy, rainy Saturday, but we should try to not let the weather ruin our fun. So, why not stop by the Farmers Market on Saturday morning on the Central Avenue field in Pearl River. To get the vendor lineup, please click here. As of this writing, the Tappan Fall Fling is still on for Saturday and the Oktoberfest in Piermont has been moved to Sunday, October 22nd.
Looking for something fun to do for Halloween? The biggest small-town Halloween Parade in the Village of Nyack steps off at 5:30 pm on October 28, 2023. Trust me, it’s always a great time for kids and adults alike. So, put on a costume and join in on the fun! And, speaking of fun parades, the Orangeburg Fire Association is having one on October 31, 2023. It kicks off at 6:30 pm from the Orangeburg Firehouse.
There is still a shortage of blood in Rockland County, so please consider stopping by the Rockland GAA on Saturday, October 28, 2023 to donate. The drive will be held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The New York Blood Center thanks you in advance for your support.
Have a safe weekend.
Regards,
