What better way is there to celebrate Earth Day than to plant trees? Come join us -- and bring friends -- for all or part of this three-day celebration and experience the pure joy of working together to transform a damaged landscape into a thriving productive ecosystem.
In collaboration with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, our goal is to plant 5,000 trees and shrubs on 12 acres of land in a single weekend!
In addition, we will be offering three one-hour workshops on grafting and plant propagation techniques. Whether you're a novice or a pro, or somewhere in between, this will be a terrific opportunity to learn, practice and share skills that can be put to use in your own back yard or neighborhood.
On Saturday evening, we will be hosting a live concert in honor of our dear friend who passed away unexpectedly last year: Terrence E. Brown. We will carry forward and celebrate his great joy for life and his love of the natural world around us.
For those who wish to connect with the land even more directly, we offer camping overnight at our hillside campsites with spectacular sunrise views. Campers will need to bring their own food and equipment.
PDC Students can also earn PDC-credit hours for helping with this large-scale tree-planting event. For more information about this option, please contact us at events@thereedcenter.org.
